8 Powder Rooms With Pattern-Happy Wallpaper
Fun, bold ideas lie behind the doors of these powder rooms. Which one will inspire you?
If you take a look at the most recent powder room photos on Houzz, you’ll start to see a lot of wallpaper. So we caught up with some of the designers behind these newly done rooms to ask them about the trend and learn about implementing it in a powder room remodel. Here are eight pattern-happy powder rooms that caught our eye. Do any of them inspire you to go bold with wallpaper in your powder room?
2. Go bold or go home. Notice in this powder room how the bold-printed wallpaper adds a ton of design interest and instantly draws the eye up. There is no paint or plaster that could complete this look in the same way. With more wallpaper options than ever, no wonder wallpaper is back and trending in interior design.

3. Fish are fair game. Florals, fruits and animals are all used in wallpaper patterns. No matter what your theme is, there’s a paper for your project. This fish-inspired design adds a classy touch to an otherwise all-white space. The way the wallpaper is installed also adds to the design. Because it’s on only half the wall, the room doesn’t feel overly bold or overwhelming.

4. Art for your walls. Los Angeles designer Natalie Myers thinks wallpaper is so popular in powder rooms because “the quality of printing wallpaper has truly excelled in the past few years, so that the resolution is crisp and it looks like art for your walls.”
The wallpaper pattern in this powder room creates an illusion, just like a piece of art can. The neutral colors and the wood vanity help to balance out the graphic patterns on the walls and floor.

5. Classic showstopper. Metallics always make an impact, and this shimmering wallpaper definitely makes a statement in this powder room. It features a warm silver metallic finish and has a painted look. The paper adds the needed “art” to make this space a showstopper.

6. Tons of patterns and textures. The huge variety of wallpaper gives you lots of creative freedom, especially in a small space like a powder room. This subtle blue pineapple pattern is printed on a fade-resistant paper and has a hand-painted look.
Some wallpaper is now even washable and stain-resistant, making it practical for a bathroom.

7. The place to splurge. If you’re going to splurge on wall covering, it makes sense to do it in the powder room. Powder rooms are small, which reduces the amount of paper you’ll need, designer Myers says. Their petite size also makes it easy to take a design risk and create a memorable surprise for guests who enter the space.

8. Small space, big design. Powder rooms’ relative lack of space means designers have to get creative with every inch. This designer used a dark and floral wallpaper to make a bold and beautiful statement, turning the room into one to remember.

Powder rooms are a little like a piece of jewelry in the home that you want to show off. “Paper completes a wall like plaster and paint can’t do,” Gannon says. They also tend to be the “public” bathrooms in the house, “and we always want to put our best foot forward,” she says.
This powder room is definitely doing that. The gold wallpaper helps blend the entire space together. Though the tile flooring is bold and graphic too, it works perfectly here.
