One less corner cab with its awkward storage is a plus. A downside is that it's a bit more crowded to have two people at the sink. And if you're vertically challenged like I am ;-) wiping behind the sink requires lots of stretching and contortions (I currently have a corner sink set-up). Some people love them, some detest them. I like mine but even so, I'm not keeping it when we remodel. We're moving the cook top off the island and I need to shift the sink out of the corner so that I gain more prep room between sink and cook top. It will still be under a window because we're replacing the existing window with one that is 6" wider. Enlarging the window or shifting the one you have to the left is an option for you. You'll need to decide whether a corner sink is a good choice in order to keep the other window and have more counter between sink and range. Maybe you can find one at a local kitchen showroom to try out.

That really isn't a floating wall - it's connected to a soffit and continues down the hall to another doorway. I would not come out from that towards the staircase - it will look like part of your kitchen is in a hallway. Have you actually cut open the wall to see what/how big/where all these pipes are on the inside?? They are most likely not spread all through that long wall. Maybe you can remove a bunch of the wall, just leaving behind some posts ( there surely are some structural columns inside there ) and then you can be more creative with cabinetry Sort of like these maybe?? The key is to truly know what can and can't be done structurally in your home. You will need an architect to help with the structural changes since it might be a load bearing wall. You definitely have a great space to work with!

remove the whole thing. no ledge. take it all the way back to where the other wall is. maybe you arch that opening or have that opening tie into the rest of the room? can you take up the ceiling in the kitchen too? since you're redoing the whole kitchen, get a designer out there who can figure it out. not enough info for us to comment on that. get a structural engineer out there to explain to you where the actual supports come in. maybe you could remove the whole wall and do a beam of some sort.

What you have looks really good. Unless some part of it is in bad shape not visible in the pic, twice about making major changes for visual decor purposes only. Stainless steel appliances and white appliances are both classic. Either would work --- consider your sink as you decide. Personally prefer a "hidden" stove hood in a small kitchen. The visible metal vent hoods can easily overpower a relatively small space such as yours. Since anything painted will, inevitably, need to be repainted and can look awful as it gets to that point, and since wood is a classic look -- and yours look good -- IF you truly want to paint, do at least consider painting ONLY the base cabinet of the island to add the color you want and leave the other cabinets wood. Another option for the island ... You could remove the doors on the base cabinet (wrap and store them in the back of a closet or in an under/bed container) rather than painting them, as is, to change the visual of the island and change the wood look of the base itself. -- You could add tongue and groove vertical paneling look (even comes in peel'Nstick). and/or ... You could make the island/bar more rustic and/or ... You could add another board for more bar seating along with a foot rail. You could paint the metal bar chair(s), too. ... IF you change the island to be a different wood such as vertical tongue and groove, you could do the same over the stove hood, too. Do consider both the wall color and the island base color as you decide what, IF anything, you want to repaint so the new colors work well together -- perhaps two shades of the same color. You might consider some new decorative items and colors for the items hung on the wall above the upper cabinets. While I like what you have, if you're wanting a change and more color, the rectangles above the overhead cabinets likely could be painted. IF they are only frame -- not a solid piece -- you might consider creating a pair of faux windows (since it appears you don't have one).
