Can you add more photos to get a better view of the whole kitchen? You say extend this out, do you mean the peninsula extended to the left? As for cabinets, it appears you have those beams in the ceiling that will prevent a seamless look if you were to add an additional cabinet to the end of the wall. If you want more space, I suggest an open shelf look.

Beautiful kitchen! Now that I see the whole kitchen viewpoint, I would actually recommend removing that little cabinet that extends as a small peninsula. I think it would open the kitchen up more and allow for more movement. However, if you rely on this area as a place for two bar stool sitting then keep it.

What a beautiful home! Are you wanting to extend the counter for seating? Looks like you already have seating at the opposite end of the kitchen.

also FYI the space with the couch is un-used space...so want to extend the kitchen somehow without it looking strange

That really isn't a floating wall - it's connected to a soffit and continues down the hall to another doorway. I would not come out from that towards the staircase - it will look like part of your kitchen is in a hallway.

Have you actually cut open the wall to see what/how big/where all these pipes are on the inside?? They are most likely not spread all through that long wall.

Maybe you can remove a bunch of the wall, just leaving behind some posts ( there surely are some structural columns inside there ) and then you can be more creative with cabinetry

The key is to truly know what can and can't be done structurally in your home. You will need an architect to help with the structural changes since it might be a load bearing wall.

Thank you! We do have a seating area at the other end of the house. We are planning on making that area at the other end a bit more of a dinning area with a nice chandelier. We want to in the entry way create more casual sitting with a longer island for more counter space and cabinets. The area with the couch we don't use at all, and the kitchen is such a small area of the space so trying to expand that.. Would love to take the wall out that would be ideal, just may be hard with the bathroom plumbing above in the bedroom going down that wall...Thanks everyone for the photo's and great idea's .. already been helpful.. and open to more

What we are leaning towards is creating one long island (no L anymore) and having the wall sit in the middle of it with the right side being a shallow built in credenza / cabinet (to maintain a wide hallway) and the left side having stools sit under it along with perhaps some more cabinets. We would remove the uppers on either side of the oven hood to streamline some of the bulk inside the kitchen. We'd love to carry the same quartz across the top of the cabinets up the wall along with wrapping around the top of the built in credenza / cabinet so it's one continuous flow of material.
