Problem neighbors and being watched by them
Comments (25)Nichole, I am sorry you are having to live next to two "new" neighbors that seem to be a real PITA. Don't talk to any of them. Ever. If you must watch them, watch them from inside your home, but don't make it obvious. Even if they attempt to speak at you, pretend they don't exsist. Until you can move to a safer area, you must follow these rules. Don't walk anywhere, especailly alone. WHen you get a ride home, go right into the house. Don't EVER let anyone in your house. Tell your mom and aunt to watch your cousins at the door, so they don't open it for anyone. Keep the front door locked with a dead bolt ALWAYS. Keep your key close. Tell your aunt to have her ex hubby come and visit his children at the house, in daylight so all can see, in his patrol car and uniform. VERY important you do this. Let all your neighbors see him stop by and come in your house, at different times. Tell your aunt this, she will know why. Tell your mom you want mace for your protection, and carry it in your jean pockets. Don't tell anyone about it, ever. Not even your best friend at school. If you have metal detectors at school, don't take it to school, only use it on the weekends in your jeans pocket. I know your aunt doesn't want a gun, and a dog is alot of work to take care of, so I guess the mace, and a little street smarts is all you can do. Never talk to the nutty woman or her husband next door, ever. Pretend she is a tree, would you talk to a tree? Good luck honey. I hope your mom and aunt get the oppurtunity to move for your sake and the cousins sake. In the meantime, you have to watch your back....See MoreAdult male person in ladies' restroom.
Comments (23)I frequently use the men's room at places like starbucks, where there is a single stool and a lock on the door for the whole room and often a line for the lady's room. I've gotten some funny looks when I leave the men's room and some guy is waiting for it, and also looks of envy from women who don't have the nerve to do it, but are stuck waiting in line while the men's room is free. I wish more places simply had unisex rooms so you could use any space that's free. That said, I would freak out to have a man come into the women's room. there are too many violent predators looking for opportunities to victimize women for me to ever feel comfortable with that....See MoreSpeaking of toilets...
Comments (10)My kids thought the elaborate toilets at our high end Tokyo hotel were hysterical, especially the little images that label each function button .... And they were baffled by what look like dish sprayers mounted on the wall next to toliets in India. For a country like ours, known for its (some say excessive) personal hygiene, it is a bit odd that we haven't adopted these embellishments. I imagine too, that if you are used to cleansing with water, tp seems woefully inadequate and we look like the uncouth ones. I also always found the musical ones in public Japanese restrooms quite funny, apparently to mask unladylike "music"....See MorePhotos with toilet lid up
Comments (41)Sammy, I have lived in two homes built in the 1950s that had this kind of swinging door between the kitchen and the dining room. It allows one to carry dishes out without leaving the kitchen door open and letting all the heat and smells into the living area (pre-air-conditioning!). The doors swung either direction, and could be hung open on either side, too. If you did not push it all the way to the stop-open spot, it automatically swung closed. Fori, I agree with you about the germs as long as we are talking about our skin surface. But I know that there are substances from our digestive tract's far end, for instance, that must not enter the other end! Or get into the mucous membranes of any opening, for that matter. But this micro-splash theory people have is a bit much. Perhaps there are toilets that actually mist the room, but any I have ever had simply swirl. If my new toilet (still out in the garage) actually sends out a mist, then my opinion will change, but it will be a conviction that the toilet design is wrong, not that everything in the bathroom must be covered!...See More- 7 years ago
