Following trends can be expensive if you opt for a complete makeover each season. Instead, accessorize your home using items from your favorite trend to keep your spaces fresh and current. Go for trends that speak to you most and best fit your lifestyle. Here are a few of my favorites:
Trend 1: Shapes abound. Patterns are all the rage this season. The repeating patterns found here in the rug, toss pillows, and ottoman—add interest to the mix.
Patterns don't limit themselves to textiles. This carved wood dining table boasts crisp rectangular shapes and anchors this contemporary space.
Trend 2: Exotic destinations. With emphasis on the uniqueness of the region and rich, organic hues, this trend has a style-without-borders attitude. Identifying your ancestral roots and incorporating them into your home establishes a connection with your predecessors and instills a sense of reverence and pride in your culture. This trend also celebrates exploration and shows an appreciation for the global environment.
When incorporating exotic destinations in your design plan, look for pieces made of exotic woods, highly textured fabrics, hand painted tiles and mosaics.
Trend 3: Bring the outside in. This bathroom design is organic in nature and celebrates resourcefulness and inventive integrity. The stacked stone wall and unfinished vanity reminds us that nature in her raw state has already performed her perfect work.
Trend 4: Sweet nostalgia. This fall consumers are finding comfort in precious memories. Silhouettes are steeped in tradition and instantly remind me of the love of family.
Pets are valued members of the family, too. Immortalize your faithful companion with a silhouette on a wall or pillow cover.
Trend 5: In living color. The wave of new neutrals has not wiped out consumers' craving for color in both residential and commercial design. This bowling alley restroom is alive, energetic, and reflects the fun times you would expect to have with friends.
If colors overwhelm you, consider pairing them with gray. Gray neutralizes color, transforming a lively palette into one that is calming.
