Radiator cover top -- how to dress up?
Comments (12)Your rad cover is very much like one my DH made for a house we had many years ago. I put plants on mine as well altho did 'cook' an azalea. Best to use good waterproof cache pots or plant pot saucers under them to prevent staining. You might consider using burlap as a runner as it's not necessary to sew it. Just trim evenly to the size you want and pull a few threads to make a fringe. You could use a product called "Fray Check" to prevent the fringe from further fraying. I've made two such runners from some leftover burlap I had bought for other crafts. Didn't use Fray Check so have to be very careful with them. Burlap is masculine and a bit rustic and I like it for my rustic/refined decor....See MoreBlackout curtain rods - easy to remove curtains?
Comments (8)Bumping this because I don't think the solution I found will work. These are the initial rods I bought. It seems as if we must unscrew the rods from the wall if we need to remove the drapes. The Umbra twilight room darkening rods I found (pic below) might not be the best solution either. Lifting the rod out of its "nest" attached to the wall risks damaging the paint on the wall. Comments (8)Blackout curtains are great, but you need to look at all the edges, as that is where light will leak out. In my experience that means: A pelmet on the top. Either one curtain or make sure they overlap where they meet in the middle. The curtains need to extend well beyond he window at each side. The rail that Sharon has posted looks a good idea too. Floor length sounds like a good idea, as long as you are not covering a radiator. Most radiators are situated directly below the window, so you end up blocking the heat. We have curtains that fall just below the window and tuck them between the radiator and wall. Aesthetically not ideal, but if you're asleep, who cares? Better than waking up to a cold room. A more expensive option is metal roller blinds fitted into the window frame....See MoreRelated Professionals
