handheld plus fixed showerhead question
Comments (7)sorry, davidro1, that's what i get for posting at 1.30 in the morning, lol. lemme try again: "but i was under the impression that some rough-in valves like the thermobalance III (and maybe an alsons one...i vaguely recall someone mentioning an alsons valve that also lets you run both heads at the same time) have an in-wall diverter that lets you use both a fixed head and handheld at the same time? if so, other than aesthetics, is there any reason to use the in-wall other than the external one? or is it personal preference, like what bh401 was saying?" that said, i was at a fixture shop today and they said 1) the little thingie IS called a diverter, more specifically, a "shower arm diverter" and 2) the hansgrohe thermobalance III does run both heads simultaneously. but i was hoping someone could tell me if there's another company that makes something similar to the thermobalance III. staceyneil, thanks, but yes, we need both heads. when i shower w/my little kids, we need the extra showerhead. the handheld on a bar would work nicely. thanks!...See MoreHansgrohe handheld showerhead, metal hose or techniflex one?
Comments (6)Don't get me started on the HG pressure control valve. Yes, the temp is a problem when water is used elsewhere. Thermostatic control valve may be a better option. Symmons therm valves are workhorses and seem to be very reliable. Can still use HG shower head with it. Metal hose is heavy and gets hot/warm. I have one metal hose and I'm always worried it will bang against the tile and crack it. But it's in my master and I'm the only one who uses it so I'm very careful. Can't speak to the cleaning lady though. The plastic one can be a bit tight (i have 2 of those too) but it loosens up over time. Looks fine to me. For a bath that many different people will be using, I'd go that route....See MoreChanging Regular Showerhead to Handheld - Seeking Advice
Comments (10)kgsd that's funny because I have found hardly any like the one I posted! It becomes more challenging because I'd like a brushed nickel to match the sink faucet, but I have found only chrome and white so far. I looked on the Kohler and Moen websites and on faucet.com and designerplumbingoutlet.com. I think the challenge is that so many pictures only show the showerhead itself, and not how it attaches to the wall and water source. (Even when I look at the install guide.) I will take a look at the store websites you mention to see what I can find. (And I suppose I should get my lazy self out to look at them in person!) buyorsell let me know if you find one, and I'll post if I find a good one too. (BTW the picture I posted above is Moen Adler, found on their web site.)...See MoreLets talk shower systems: handheld attached to showerhead or seperate?
Comments (14)Yay! I'm glad you decided to go with what your heart wanted...orb :) I have (what looks to be the same setup). Not sure that the difference is between yours and my Delta Linden In2ition. The two shower heads (one handheld) snap into each other. Both can be used together or independently. The handheld has multiple settings. The stationary shower-head as a couple of settings but I've not messed with that yet. One main reason I bought this one is that you can operate/adjust the water temp independently from the water on/off/pressure. If you know what temp you like your water, you can set it and forget it. If you could find a waterproof (maybe stick on) "hook" of some sort to hang the handheld on at a lower position for the kiddos, that would be great :) And don't worry about the finish. If something does go wonky with it, Delta has a lifetime warranty on the finish....See MoreB L
