Bathroom countertop material

Hi! Upgrading countertops in 3 bathrooms which currently have white tile from late 90s. Cant quite decide what material to go with in terms of costs and reliability. Like Quartz but too many negative reviews for MSI and Ceasarstone and Cambria is pricey plus hard to find in our neck of the woods. What other brands of Quartz might we look at?

Granite and solid surface are other options. Again, not many places carry Solid surface/Corian stuff around here.

Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

A few years ago we had our 3 bathrooms renovated. We purchased remnant quartz countertops from a local stoneyard at quite a cost savings! We chose Emerstone quartz, color: Crema Marfil, for our sage colored vanities; and Pental quartz, color: Thassos (white) for our charcoal vanity. All 3 countertops look as good today as the day of installation. No chipping, scratching or staining. Easy clean up with dish soap and water. Best of luck on your journey!

When we had our kitchen renovated a few years ago, we chose Silestone quartz countertops, color: Charcoal Soapstone. No chipping, scratching or staining. Easy clean up with dish soap and water. We are very happy with this countertop choice.

You can see what I used with my calacatta gold honed tile and dark wood, furniture-style vanity: leathered antique brown, which is really more of a grayish brown color. I didn't want to use marble on the counter for maintenance reasons and because I couldn't find one that matched or coordinated well with the floor (even other calacatta's didn't look right). I also considered a gray limestone from Greece, but, again, the maintenance problems.

Radiance isn't cheap. You're looking at one of the most expensive choices Staron makes. I love it too but it was way too dear for us. Any fabricator will be able to make you an integrated sink the size you want. When I looked at this as a choice, an integrated white sink and radiance was almost $2000 here in the Chicago burbs.

I would call your $/sf very pricey. In Des Moines Iowa, its around $133/sf, I believe according to a quick look on the internet. National average is $175/sf. Anyway, I have marble in my bathroom and have been happy with it. Its not subjected to intense chemicals. No nail polish. Just toothpaste, hairspray, and soap. I love the marble. I have it honed. I also have a medicine cabinet that I think is terrific. Though I don't use it as much as I thought I would. I have drawers in the vanity for most things. I do love the large mirror. The history of my medicine cabinet is that I aquired the mirror for free back in the early 90's, before I knew what I had. I thought it was a lower cabinet door for a fancy home bar. So when I was redoing my one bathroom 4 years ago, I noticed mirrors in the show room that reminded me of the mirror I had stored in the basement. It was a Robern fairly large mirrored medicine cabinet mirror. So I had my wonderful carpenter make me a cabinet to go with the trim and cabinetry in the bathroom. I love it, and I think it's pretty.

kculbers - I’ve now seen your Pental - Thassos countertop posted a few times - I need to decide on a solid white countertop for my master bathroom - and I’m wondering if this might be the right choice . . .

Is it just a plain white (as it appears to be) - or does it have any specks? I love genuine Thassos - and actually have some mixed in with other marbles in a 2” mosaic that’s on my shower floor (has some really interesting types of marble - including different Bardiglio pieces).

I am tired of looking at solid white countertops - I’ve thought about Corian (after all the praise Glacier White receives on Houzz) - just so I can be finished - but my SO def doesn’t want Corian.

Should I stop searching - and just go see the Thassos??!!?
