Do I Need More Seating in my Great Room?
Comments (12)Thanks so much for your compliments. I do have a large ottoman that went with the club chairs, and enough fabric to recover that, also, so I will plan on doing that as soon as free time allows. Friends have already stopped by and used the hearth cushion, too, so IâÂÂm glad I made that. I also have cushioned dining room chairs at the table in this room, as well as a bench in the foyer that can be brought in and placed at the end where the overlarge slipcovered chair is now. That chair and itâÂÂs mate are going to a consignment store because they are too big and too uncomfortable to keep in this room. So with those additions, I guess I should be okay. Thanks so much for your help, again! Sis2two, I bought the seagrass rug at Overstock. It was suggested by GW members initially, and it is what transformed the room perfectly! I had an oriental-style rug there before that just didnâÂÂt work with the new couch or rustic coffee table....See MoreWhat colors can I add to my living room.

Comments (28)A statement art piece above the fireplace would be a natural focal point. Try picking at least one color from the artwork and repeating it in details around the room. Also resist the urge to choose an art piece that lines up with mantel edges. Use a piece that is narrower or wider to ensure that the artwork is a feature and not just an extension of the fireplace....See MoreCan I add more boho without adding more clutter? Living room re-do
Comments (34)I’m laughing at the thought of my squishy, comfy pillows being called forbidding or them fighting with anyone. I took a couple of more pictures, including the chairs without the pillows and I think you’ll agree that the cushions make them look more inviting, not less. Also rearranged so that people can see that the sofa facing the fireplace, chair at each side will not work in the space. I tried it as the most obvious answer and discarded it. It’s awkward to me, like the sofa is turning it’s back on everyone. Also, due to the placement of the fireplace, the sofa and chairs cannot be centered on the fireplace or the bedroom will be blocked completely. I can’t pull the sofa back much more without blocking the walkway. The fact is, space for the ‘living room” is much smaller than you think. I also pulled the rug away, to demonstrate that the rug and sofa not going together is kind of the least of this room’s problems. I wish I could get a good angle that shows just how off center the couch and chairs are....See MoreBri Bosh
