I'd add a round sofa table, not a rectangle. That way it will be easy to walk around for all pieces of furniture.

I love your room and tastes in furnishings! It's thoughtful, artistic and collected. It's got a lot of soul. Nice job!

I'd opt for an oval glass top table and place it before the tweed sofa to serve whoever is seated there. I like glass coffee tables for modestly sized living spaces with beautiful rugs because they don't take up visual space and you get to appreciate the rug in its entirety. I'd put an end table on either side of the blueish gray sofa for those who sit there. This arrangement allows everyone seated to have a surface to rest a drink, snack, book or whatever. You'll want to find some table lamps, as well.

Have you considered rotating the rug 90 degrees? The reason I ask is that it looks like its current orientation impedes the walk way from the foyer to dining room. Give it a try and slip it under the sofa chair legs. There may be enough carpet for the chairs to sit on it fully.. I like it when chairs with open bases are fully placed on a rug. It's grounding.

One other thing to consider, is that art in living areas can best be enjoyed if hung around eye level while seated. The exception is above fireplaces, obviously. Higher mounting is great for areas where people spend most of their time standing (eg: passage ways, bathrooms, kitchens, etc). In your case, I'd lower the art above the sofa. Strange as it may seem, you'll feel more at ease while seated.

Oh - and mount the photo of that lovely little girl on the wall!

love your rug- jut a warning on the glass table top. I have a beautiful Karastan rug which I didn't want to cover up and bought a gorgeous beveled glass table with angled corners and a wrought iron base. it looked stunning, but was so high maintenance - showed every dust particle as it was near a west window .And this was in a living room which had very little use. So... when I moved, I sold it.

I have no suggestions. I just want to tell you I love the new arrangement. I agree I bet you can turn the rug back and get the chairs on it. Your rug is stunning and I covet your chairs. You have a good eye.

Chairs half on the rug is fine. They just need to be connected. Now, can you give us a wider shot of the new arrangement with the rug turned?

I love your room, esp the rug. I'm just missing table lamps for warmth and maybe a pretty throw on one of the sofas.
