I don't want a divorce so help please!
Comments (40)Ok let me be clear. I’m not afraid of my husband nor am I worried about getting a divorce. It was just playing. Those of us who have been married for years sometimes avoid certain conversations just because we know we’ll be annoyed or you’ll have to hear the other complain. It’s not that deep. I also don’t like to make my husband feel unappreciated, so there are times I’ll work around, rather than ask him to change something he has done for me. That’s part of being married. I was merely asking for thoughts on how I could make this a “work around” issue. Better?...See MoreHelp! I don’t know how to make my long living room cozy
Comments (27)What Beverly shows you works well and looks terrific to start. The only thing I would change is the TV - change it to what katinparadise and rthawk described. The console your TV is on now is contributing to the visual clutter - and their solution will eliminate that and clear up that corner area. Your room looks so much better with the sectional moved to the long wall. That sofa table Bevs shows really works with that end of the sofa - so you can add a lamp and make the room even more cozy. I love the curtains Bev shows and the way to hang them so they don't crowd the window (high) and full. Good luck, have fun with your new room! You are on the right track OP....See MoreSTUCK! Comments (7)If this was my room, I would have the dining table completely away from the window. If the view is that nice in the evening, I would want to be able to walk up to the window and look out. I would forget about the acrylic table legs. Even if you had the dining table beside the window, the table top will block the view, not the legs. But for me, I’d put a low profile bench by the window so you and your guests had a place to sit and enjoy the view. Add a good size sideboard where the armoire is and if you still have room, think about an overhang on your kitchen countertop on the dining room side. Then you can have bar stools for your guests to sit at while you prepare dinner....See MoreDon’t know what paint to choose! Help!!
Comments (32)Since one of the givens is the white tile, then leave the doors and trim white even if you go SW Cream for the rest. It is too bad, as Jennifer Hogan says, that your aunt didn't want to make global decisions at the outset. Usually the most harmonious palette in an open plan is to take the very lightest shade from the granite for the walls while harmonizing with the floors, then the furnishings--not easy. Fortunately, the rug is well chosen, so the different whites will work. To repeat, get very large posterboard for your samples and put them against every single element, first the givens: cabinet, granite, floors, white tile, then the rug and furnishings. Test them under daylight and nightlight and on different walls. This is what color consultants do--take it all in together. Good luck!...See Morejenny1963
