No Room for a Coffee Table? Think Again!
Consider an end, side, or accent table as a stylish and functional alternative
Large traditional coffee tables may not fit your space, or the look you want in a living room or family room. For this reason, more and more manufacturers are creating side table, accent tables and end tables that can be used as a coffee table as well. These smaller tables allow you to place a drink or snack down on top, yet are more compact, and can be moved around when needed.
I first began looking into these alternative tables when I was hired by a client to design a family room around a reclining sofa. I wanted a pair of tables that could sit in front of the sofas, then, when they wanted to recline, could be moved to the sides as end tables. Whether you have a similar situation, small space, or for other reason, you will be sure to get ideas from one of these options.

If you are looking to pair several tables that are 20-24” deep or long each, there are many end tables that fit that size. Go with glass tops for a more transparent look, so they don’t feel bulky. The end tables will be slightly higher than a traditional coffee table, but with all the varying sizes in tables these days, it will look great!
Invest in your tables and let them be your inspiration in the room. Pair interesting accent tables together for a bold beautiful look.
