Miele W4840 service manual
Comments (26)I'm no appliance guru but HOW important are the shipping bolts/struts in a real world application ~move~. As long as it's not being thrown around like how UPS/Fed Ex treats boxes this time of the year. I recently had a 4XXX torn apart and the only slop in play would be the drum , just from the mere fact it is suspended with springs. But you would need to rock them pretty hard IMO for that to cause damange to all the interconnecting parts, etc......See MoreFix or Replace Miele?
Comments (4)Had the shocks/struts on our older Miele replaced where it was, in house. Bearings OTOH yes, the technician is correct it that your washer will have to go to MieleUSA's workshop in New Jersey. This is unless he has one closer to wherever you live. Either way it is going to be an expensive project and that is even if MieleUSA will do it. Your series is not that "old" so it may be approved. Otherwise MieleUSA will do everything it can to dissuade if not turn down the job. We have an older Miele and quite honestly have been told by MieleUSA don't call them anymore as they aren't coming out again, ever, period, end of story. MieleUSA does not have a surplus of technicians and the ones they do have and or are training both in house and from outside sources are not being taught anything before the 1200 series washing machines and matching dryers IIRC. Certainly not the 10XX or 19XX series. Your husband is correct in that a new bearing job is going to be expensive and you might be better off buying new. That and or search around locally on eBay or Craigslist for a used 1200 washer (we see them often enough), and go from there. MieleUSA has the equipment and so forth to replace bearings because they will normally do the repair if the thing goes while machine is under warranty. However on an older unit you have to balance out the cost of repair versus how long the machine will last otherwise, this includes other repairs. That is to say if you do the bearings this year and next the motor, motherboard, or whatever fails. While some do the repair onsite in Europe changing the bearings on a Miele requires removing the tubs (after disconnecting everything attached), using either a very strong hoist or some other equally strong but stable method. The cast iron drums are what make Miele washers so stable but also weigh a lot....See MoreMiele Service in Milwaukee, WI Area
Comments (4)I bet if you went through Miele they would. I live north of Des Moines about 30 miles and I was told by the regional manager of Miele, when I was in Chicago visiting their store, that all I would have to do is contact them and I would get service. The manager mentioned that someone in Minneapolis would probably be the service. I don't know what that would cost, LOL, but that is what I was told. It would possibly be cheaper for me to drive my machine to the Twin Cities and have it worked on. When I bought the machine 2 years ago, I was told that the service contract was with a local appliance repair shop. I am just crossing my fingers that I don't have problems and if I do, I will get service more locally than a shop in MN....See MoreLaundry Detergent Recommendations for Miele w3038
Comments (49)Roc, I'm in a small country town and the old sheets sell at thrift stores mainly to the underprivlaged...most people around here would walk past the sheets thinking..I don't want someone else's stinky bedding LOL. Ebay often has a ton of old sheets, but they might be pricey. Personally I don't mind paying for good quality American made sheets even if I have to subject them to torture to get them clean. I recently felt a set of sheets at Bon Ton and looked at the edging..shoot they wanted 140 $ and that was on sale, I wouldn't have paid 10 $ the edging looked like something I would do nowadays with my crooked fingers, LOL and they had a underlying roughness...I pay 30 $ for the twin size at Target without a sale and their much better made than Bon Tons over priced, rough bedding. Roc, I love Target but I'm glad its an hour drive from me or I'd be there often when I can't afford to. I was there yesterday and finially got the Mrs Meyers Lemon Verbena FS..haven't used it yet so no review yet lol. I do plan to order more Vaska lavender laundry detergent tabs as I did end up enjoying them on towels....See Morea1an
