I won an iPad Air -any recommendations for a case?
Comments (4)I use the Apple Smart Cover on my iPad Air 2, as I had liked the one on my previous iPad. Bummed that it's not available in leather anymore, but the finish isn't bad. I like the cover bec I can fold it as a stand, leave it flat, or pop it off and on easily as desired. For carrying around my iPad (eg., tossing it in my gym bag), I like the Built brand perforated neoprene sleeve with twist top corners. It's padded for protection, lightweight, and my iPad is easily accessed. I had purchased one for my original iPad at Staples, but gave it DH with that iPad when I got my Air 2. I got my new one from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009A6CVCK/ref=pd_aw_sbs_e_9?refRID=152QX4D4GT05GW7FMB75...See MoreDo you have a air fryer?
Comments (25)Air "frying" is not necessarily healthier than deep frying if you are using frozen pre-battered "oven ready" products. Many of these products have a lot of fat in them and the coatings to promote crispness and browning. More than would be absorbed by properly deep frying the same item in its non "oven ready" form at the correct frying temperature. The only way to achieve fried foods is to either have the fats outside the food or in the food. Anything else is convention roasting or baking....See MoreDisappointed in new air fryer--do you like yours?
Comments (13)I think the big problem is that you started with too many adjustments. There was another thread here recently praising an air fryer so much it almost tempted me. :) The way it works is by blowing hot air, like a compact, powerful convection oven. Some have a stirring want for making chips. I can do the same thing in my wall oven and use tongs to stir. :) The whole point of the air fryer rather than the wall oven is to be compact, and super easy and not tie up your oven (they were invented for making French fries in tiny European apartments where you're lucky to have more than two burners and there's no oven). By starting with the Todd English video, you put it back to difficult. The time for cooking chicken increases non-linearly with how big/thick the pieces are. That's why "fryer" sized chickens are supposed to be small. Try it again with some French fries or sliced potatoes, some breaded tenders or strips, and other smaller things that people report success with. Get some successes of your own under your belt and learn how the machine work. Follow some recipes exactly, not just method, but exact size and quanity of the exact food recommended. And when it says spray with oil, spray with oil. There are some cans of oil spray that have pure oil (and therefore you must check them to make sure they don't go rancid in the cupboard), and there are some pump sprayers you can put your own oil in that work pretty well for awhile, though they tend to wear out too fast. Once you've mastered the stuff everyone else is doing, you'll have enough knowledge and experience with the machine that you should be able to adapt your own recipes and borrow methods from videos. The view is a heck of a lot better from the top of the learning curve!...See MoreAir Fryer recommendations
Comments (6)The salesman we have dealt with for appliances at Best Buy told us he has a small Cuisinart one when we were looking at one for DS for Christmas. It is the toaster oven/boxy type he wanted so he could do pizza in iot, but it was on the small side. We wanted him to have something he could cook a chicken in,We also looked at the Sur la Table one at Costco because of the features and it was on sale for $99 before the holidays. He wound up with a Breville that was still a good deal with a sale and reward credit that was about to expire. Those were our 3 finalists and we felt they would all work well for him. If you are looking for the bucket type, I can't help you at all....See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
