Thanks guys for the replies brutuses- the color is SW Ivorie. I like it too but my little girls say it's gotta go. I little darker here than reality because the room gets pm sun and we are overcast today. annz-I can paint either pink or green. The adjoining bath must then be the other color. This was the deal made with the girls (between them) cause one wanted pink and the other green! So you would paint the straight wall one color and include the angles in the ceiling. I guess since the ceiling would just be a lighter version of the wall it wouldn't cut the wall height like brutuses suggested. Anyone else-pink or green? or both?

I am going to be starting a paint project within the next week. I will be painting over walls with a heavy knockdown texture that are currently painted with a semi gloss paint. The color will not be changing. How should I prep (tsp, sanding, etc.) the walls to accept the same type (semi gloss and the same color) of paint? This is a small apartment that will be rented out by the 1st of September. My understanding is that I will not need to apply primer except in the areas where I have patched over nail holes and scuff marks. Should I apply 1 coat or 2? What nap roller sleeve should I use? I will be cutting in using a Wooster angled brush and rolling the walls with an 18" roller.

Jane's personal kitchen has a lot of Scandinavian and European influence I think, though she did throw in an antique dish cabinet that makes the area look rustic. She chose a Dornbracht tall faucet for the sink as I recall, and I saw a comment she made at Houzz afterward that made me think maybe her faucet hadn't turned out to be the best choice for her--still good, just maybe not as great as she'd hoped. I just ordered a couple of Brizo articulating faucets for my kitchen after much research and think I will be happy with them. The most memorable kitchen for me from Attic Mag's archives was the one with the working fireplace oven in the middle. It was such a simple kitchen with great functionality, and I think it was in Italy somewhere that she rented while on vacation. We really don't do kitchens like that here in the USA on any regular basis anymore now that gas and electric stoves have taken over.

If you want some color and interest in the dining room, I would think about changing what is over the buffet and getting a marvelous piece of artwork. Either one large piece or a trio, that goes to the height of the door frame. I would also change what is in those cabinets to make for a more interesting display in terms of color, shape and texture. For example, on the left, you have all white objects, it looks like serving pieces or bowls, all lined up in a row. This is a snooze. If you do these two things, you may not feel the desperate need to paint those cabinets.
