What is the shortest amount of time you can stratify tree seeds? Today I took five sugar maple seeds off a sugar maple tree in my aunts yard. I wrapped them in a damp paper towel in put them in the fridge. Normally sugar maple seeds to about 90 to 120 days of stratification but I plan to grow them over the winter under a grow light. I know some seeds can be stratified with in about three weeks. So What is the shortest amount of time you can stratify tree seeds. How do they know they’ve cold chilled for 90 days vs three weeks? Would three weeks be enough like each week could be equal to three months? I live in northern missouri which is zone five and the ground does freeze here. Thanks.
