Hi funcolors or whom ever is reading, I think I am catching on...recommending pumice/lighter color will compliment the white couch and give a nice balance. Where... if I were to go with Moondance/darker color with more saturation, the contrast would be greater and the white couch would then become more of a focal point. To keep the mural the focal point, staying a lighter color would put the focal where it needs to be and balance the couch in the room more? So, if I were to put a refinished piece of furniture directly across from the mural wall that will have the couch against it. I am guessing I would want to do a color with a bit more saturation to anchor the room or balance it? I haven't painted it yet...still trying to figure out color the right way. Maybe the depth of Moondance or a bit darker? Or would I want to do a very light color to keep the room light and airy with not to much contrast against the paint on that side of the room. I am guessing darker? Not super dark, maybe a medium depth of color? Thinking maybe: Hmm, actually I am not sure. Semi-gloss for sure, using Pumice on the walls and it being a warm color, my carpet being cool, I am guessing a cool tone, one of the medium colors pulled from the mural? Or a nice rich medium brown? Suggestions? Color sure isn't easy when you want to get it right. It is a console/chest/buffet style piece. Flat screen will be wall mounted over it and decor on top of it. Ms222 Oh my, what a great house on the water. You love modern...really nice table and chairs. If you go all modern and plan on keeping the same kitchen floor plan you will have to replace all the doors top and bottom, eliminate the two short staggered cabinets on top and add cabinets in their place on the same line as the others. Eliminate the upper moldings style and backsplash; the countertop would work fine as is. Eliminate the chair rails and replace all interior doors. I would paint your walls in a flat paint and see how you like it and then decide when or if to eliminate the texture. When I painted my son's textured walls in Behr porpoise gray flat paint we had to touch the walls to even know the texture was there. However, it's hard to see how much texture you have in your pictures and we don't know if there is texture behind the chair rails. Anyway, after all that you'll have a good start on transforming it all to a completely different look. I know it might seem overwhelming but once you get a start on it it will be fun. I almost envy you because I'm a gal who needs projects and mayhem; I'm in limbo now just fixing things up to sell for a future downsize. Not fun! In my next house I'm hoping to do a completely different style. I want to buy the little stinky 60's house across the street from the waterfront mansions. Then I plan on becoming their very bestest friend and ride around in their yacht lol. Jill, please post after you go to the NY store and tell us of the quality. I have never actually touched Lillian August furniture. I really love so many things on the online site though and like the fact that there are a few things in my price range. What is the reason you do not want to continue using the metropolitan grey? If you are looking at resale in the near future I would recomend keeping to one color or lighter/darker versions of the same color. Grey is a wonderful neutral and would be good to stick to so you don't end up with that "bag of skittles". Also, posting photos of the rooms in question would really help.

Where are you located? Is your roof a redish/orange tone? You need to work with that and then improve your landscaping too. I think a Sage green color would be very nice. Maybe a light cream if you want a more yellow look. But not a strong yellow. Yellows get strong very fast. So go two shades less strength on yellows.
