Can you whip cream cheese til it’s as fluffy as the commercial kind?
Comments (22)I think we have become so used to having our food sources possibly contaminated that the manufacturers are doing a huge CYA on the recommendations. You can make your own cream cheese....but warning it involves unrefrigerated milk and cream for 12 hours while the culture grows....and you will need to leave it out another 5 or 6 hours to drain. Cheese needs to be aged in a cool place....most cheeses...but when it has developed it's fine at room temp. Cheese is funny stuff....it won't "set" if there is any antibiotics at all in the milk used.....and if you are using pasteurized milk, you need to add a culture. As cheese ages it gets more acedic ( that's a very general statement) and less friendly for harmful bacteria to grow....check on line and see the number of cheese makers that ship their aged cheeses through the mail....without ice packs!...See MoreBecause you are so much better at this than me.....words
Comments (9)I also wouldn't say made it through. How about something like the following: We are all so very happy that baby X is healthy and thriving. She is truly an amazing baby and has had the support, well wishes, and love of a whole community of people. Having a child in the NICU has to be one of the most stressful events for new parents. Hoping this token will allow you to treat yourselves after all the sleepless nights and watchful days....See Moresomeone tell me if these will look good once it’s all set up
Comments (49)I have dark floors. As someone said, beautiful, but never again. Never. I don’t even have pets and I’m cleaning them constantly. And since your fiancé is arguing that you’re a neat freak and therefore is trying to talk you out of white cabinets, use that argument to get lighter floors. Now, onto white cabinets. Both white and dark cabs will show dirt. And I’m okay with that because then I know I need to wipe them down. But white will hide and dark will show are smudges. That’s a never ending battle here with young kids. Do what you want with that info....See MoreFeathers- because you said you had a lot of mint
Comments (14)Now I want a mojito. too late. Maybe on the weekend. I would love that recipe for watermelon, feta salad. I have never tasted chocolate mint. Bet it’s good. I do love those Girl Scout cookies. We didn’t get any this year ;-( Localeater, I end up wasting herb like (my favorites) spearmint, Basil, Thai sweet basil and cilantro with roots. Ditto fresh lime leaf. I have made Thai curry pastes and frozen those. I love red or Penang, but perhaps my favorite is the green thai curry. I can make a hurry up shrimp with hot green basil. Frozen green curry paste, cook in a bit of oil. Add coconut cream, let it cook a bit. Defrost shrimp and pan fry in in its shell in a bit of oil with a bit of garlic, even garlic powder. Don’t overcook. Set aside too cook, then shell and remove ”vein.” Save the shells, return them to the shrimp pan (there’s gold in them there hills). Fry pan cook shrimp shells in oil and a bit of butter. Get some toasty brown on them. After about 6-10 minutes, add some water or chick broth *you can add a cheater teaspoon of Better Than Bouillon Chicken paste. Cook about 10 minutes. Pass this shrimp broth through a fine sieve. Keep the cleared broth. Use it whenever you need it, maybe even in the green shrimp curry. It freezes well. To the curry paste, add simple vegetables such as mixed frozen veggies, green bell pepper, Asian vegetables, whatever you like. Add a teaspoon or two of Thai fish sauce (nam pla). Taste for balance. Add the shrimp back in to warm. Add fresh Thai sweet basil leavs. Mix toss gently to combine. Serve with steamed jasmine rice, or brown rice. You can cook fantastic rice in your microwave, best it you can do 2-stage power stack cooking. Takes about 25 mins or less. You can get perfect rice texture. OMG, I just hijacked feather’s mint thread. Well, ahem, basil is a mint relative (averting eyes in shame.)...See MoreCA Kate z9
