I'm very sad to say, that I too, "joined the club" today. *sigh* I placed a thin aluminum 'drip pan' (the inexpensive, very thin foil sheet you can find at Target or hardware stores) at the bottom of our brand-new (less than 2 months old) Electrolux 30" wall oven with the *beautiful* blue interior! I was baking something at 400 degrees, and was trying to prevent spill damage. After a few moments and noticing a funny smell, I looked in the oven window, and to my HORROR, I saw a bright orange, bubbly "glow" coming from the center of the foil drip pan at the bottom of the oven. I removed the drip pan immediately, but the 'hole' (the part that melted) was still stuck and baked on the bottom - about 7-8 inches around!! We'll try some of the suggested remedies... It appears that the bottom of the oven floor might be warped. I'm sick about it, as I'm sure you ALL know the feeling only too well. I will call the dealer next week, but I'm sure this is not covered with the warranty, since it clearly falls under the category of "User Error"!!! MANY thanks to all on this thread, for the information and advice...it helps to some degree, to know I'm not the only one... Misery loves company. :-(

Aside from the expense of glass and the drilling into my new tile or whatever, I'm also not convinced I would keep up with the doors as well as I'd like. Or, even if I did, that the 'used' version during the week wouldn't just get to me in my beautiful new bathroom -- as pretty and spacious as it would feel with glass. So, my choice was to go with a beautiful shower curtain first and see how I like it overall in there. (My new tub comes out a bit more than the last one, not much, but it was too darn expensive to move the toilet over and just not worth it). So, my advice would be to do a mock up a curtain and see if you like the looks. If so, give it an inexpensive go! before plunging into a new door. If you don't like having or maintaining the one you have now, you'll likely feel the same with a new one, too.

I had already ordered a shower rod and curtain when I finally got the local MH handyman to stop by. He said that before doing anything else I needed to try using "The Works" tub and shower cleaner on the calcium crusted places. $1 a bottle at the dollar store! Now, I have always used "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner and loved it. I was still shocked at how fast the calcium came off. The Lime-Away I had been using had taken soaking after soaking plus scrubbing to get most of the calcium off. I will be returning the shower rod and curtain unopened, since I now have a good way to remove calcium. It was not the shower doors I hated, but the crud buildup. I am also trying to sell my washer and dryer to get an expensive combo washer-dryer. I will use the newly freed square footage in the utility room to install a water softener. Then my calcium problem will be solved. The water here has 21 grains of hardness, or 360 ppm, and it's all calcium as the city filters out a lot of the iron. I am imagining cleaner clothes, faucets without lime scale making them leak, and no hard water ring in a toilet in 2 days. I will make it happen!

As long as you get a similar style frame you should be ok. The only screws which go into the tile are in the side rails; there should be no screws going into the curb (or bathtub). The screws you might be seeing by the bottom rail are probably the ones for the divider piece, but those go into the bottom rail not the shower curb. You will have lots of caulk or silicone to clean off, but even if the holes are in different places the side rails should cover them. remove the doors, lift off the top rail, unscrew the side rails and carefully pry up the bottom rail. Clean surfaces thoroughly and follow directions to install your new shower doors. If you need to drill new holes into tile, remember to break the surface of the tile with an awl before you drill. You might need to cut top and bottom rails to fit, but a hacksaw will work fine. Silicone lots of places.
