dragonflywings, there is the presumption that you've taken the pictures you post. Should you post a picture taken by someone else, it would be nice to let us know and to give the actual photographer credit.

This is not the place to pull something off the Net unless it's on point for a particular reason (such as identifying an animal or plant) and should be credited as such. It's not so much about the quality or professionalism of the shot, but more as an expression of what caught your eye that you wanted to capture and share.

Sometimes the posts seem to run along a theme but there's no requirement that they do so. But it's fun to see other people's take on a similar theme, or sometimes people take inspiration or reminders from one photo of another that they've taken.

If these threads result in inspiration to learn more about photo composition, editing skills or practice techniques to improve their own picture taking, that's great too.

This spring we planted a row of Sunpatiens which is a fairly new variety of impatiens. They've bloomed beautifully all season and this has been a bad year for just about everything else in my garden. My geraniums rotted from the rain, my knock-outs were full of bugs and we barely had any tomatoes. But these were reliable.

I took this photo yesterday so it's obvious they're on their way out ---the color has faded a little.

I rode to the early voting place on Friday. That is where I had seen the sign for Elmer I posted yesterday. The following pictures were shot the same day.

The maple turned from green to almost bare in a matter of 5 rain filled days. Sun at last late yesterday, but far too wet for me to get out in the yard on my scooter.

Thanks, Annie. I get it and am embarrassed I didn't realize the intention of the thread before I posted yesterday. Blush. I love to take pictures and will enjoy sharing them here as well as seeing what everyone else posts. Wonderful place to relax my tattered feelings these days.

dragonflywings...no need for embarrassment. Just enjoy everyone's pictures, as I'm sure we'll enjoy yours. This is a gentle peaceful enclave away from the world's madness....a place to feed one's soul.

Mine is just some late bloomers hanging on. Anemones, daisy and black-eyed susan. Things looked bleak a little while ago and then some serious weeding was done. It was amazing how many comebacks I had!

Also my supervisor showed up to make sure I was doing my job. :)

murraysmom, I know what you mean. Yesterday, I saw California poppies blooming. They are typically a spring/summer flower. We had some heavy rains in late September and after that warmer than usual fall weather. Those two things combined have caused this year's crop of poppy seeds to sprout resulting in plants that are now producing fall flowers. I think many of the plants are confused this year.

I agree, Dawn, I have some lemon balm that has died and resurrected a few different times this year! Confused is right!! :)
