last week i took a jaunt to st. louis to visit a friend whose dane girl had a litter of 11 puppies. i spent 3 hours in the whelping box with a pile of squeaky, soft, 2 week old little nuggets. it's hard to believe they will grow into 150# beasties! i'm going back when they're 6-7 weeks old and more mobile and playful.

My thanksgiving cactus is in full bloom right now. I love the color.

I often walk through an old cemetery near me. I just noticed this head stone that says ”Killed at Indianapolis Auto Speedway Trials”.

On my walk yesterday, a hawk swooped down right in front of me and grabbed a vole just as he was leaving his hole. It happened really fast and I just about had a heart attack.😳

@ jrb451 nooooo, i don't even have to convince myself NOT to! she is a show breeder and out of 11 puppies, at least 9 of them have show-quality markings. she will know more about conformation when they are a few weeks older but it looks like there will be only 2 or 3 sold as "companion" puppies as opposed to "show puppies".

i've never raised a dane puppy, i started out with many rescues (most of them being seniors that needed a soft place to land). my 2 current danes came to me as adults, retired from showing. they are still young (4 and 5 years old) and healthy. i will soon be 74, bad knees, chronic back pain, lots of arthritis, so raising a puppy would be much too intense.

i'm happy with my couch potatoes!

i did have a favorite puppy. this little munchkin was soooo cuddly, i couldn't put him down!

@roxsol What?? Your postal delivery service is on strike?

KW, yes. They walked out on Nov. 15 and I’m not sure how things are going. It doesn’t affect me much but I do know that some are missing the service.

Hmm. We’ve had lots of changes in Postal delivery service over the past years since 1970. It’s not been privatized & but I think is not government funded anymore. It’s very complicated. With electronic billing etc. the dependence on it has changed. But, we still check our mail 6 days a week - 5 of those days is to pick up our daily newspaper that has changed from home delivery to USPS delivery!
