The freezing rain followed by heavy wet snow that caused about 45000 homes in my area to be without electricity beginning early evening on Thursday. Many will not be back online till tonight or even some Monday am. I got power back last evening at 11.

Yikes that is a lot of snow, lgmd!

Too funny!!!! I spent the night at my brother and sister-in-law's place yesterday. I asked my neighbour below to feed Bud and Roxie.

She's a crafter and master wood-worker.

I had put an elastic around my cheap scrubbie to hold it together......the insides were unraveling. It worked fine.

I came home to this.......! She said it was an owl, looking after the cats.

I believe this is Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska. It is for sure a glacier in Alaska, just not sure if it's Mendenhall. :)

lgmd....were you hooked up to a generator? You got hit hard with weather, and winter's just starting!!!

Yes. we have a generator. hooked up to run the essentials. Freezer, fridge, furnace, a microwave and lights in kitchen. Dh was running it for an hour, then shutting it down for 4 hours before running it again. That, mainly because of gas supply even tough we had a decent supply. All the nearby gas stations were also powerless and roads in many areas blocked by downed trees and wires.

Wow, lgmd! Winter has hit early for some of you.

Autumn is still hanging around in the south. We had a beautiful weekend. I was with friends decorating a tree for our city’s Tinsel Trail yesterday. It’s a month long display of decorated trees set up for everyone’s enjoyment around a downtown park.

I made this wreath...stepped back to look at it....slipped on glare ice....slid down the steps. oops! Many cars were parked along side the road this morning because of that little bit of ice.
