Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Love your mailbox. Once again not a single kid showing up here.

We had about 15 to 20 cute little (and some big ) goblins.

It turned cold and rainy. We shut it down at 8 pm.

It's only 6:45 p.m. here and no one has rung the doorbell, but when I went out to get the mail, there were candy wrappers strewn across the sidewalk and driveway which I cleaned up.

It's chilly and rainy here too - all day. We've had one 3 yr old great nephew (and his 1 yr old little sister who did not wake up), and about a dozen more. Considering the weather, that's not bad for this street, we won't have nearly the numbers as we did in our old neighborhood. I have lights on in every room across the front of our house and all the garden lights on - trying to look welcoming ;0)

Happy Halloween! We never get anyone here. No one is going to come up our long, dark driveway!

Ooooooooo, scary mailbox, schoolhouse!

I posted this on the photo thread and will post it here too - spotted while walking around town the other day. Happy Halloween, everyone!

No trick or treaters here either, but I didn't expect any. I don't have any Halloween candy to give out, but if one of them managed to find their way to our house, I'd give them $20 just for perseverance!

On my street , at 6:15pm we all turned off our lights. Kids start about 4pm right after the parade down town, I had 105 kids.

It was rainy but we still had a good number of trick or treaters.

One of my neighbors counted 170 kids tonight, in spite of the rain. That is down a little bit, though.

One neighbor had set the full candy bowl out on the front step while she took care of a couple of things and came back just in time to see a parent take not only all the candy, but the bowl also! She chased the woman down and got her bowl back but not the candy!

Functionthenlook, great decorations! We have many in the neighborhood who do a great job -- across the street are 3 glowing dragons!

What a disgusting thing that woman did and with children watching. Karma baby!

We got zero as usual. I had the light on and some candy ready but it was pouring rain and thunder and lightning. Several tornadoes around the area. But on nextdoor they are reporting that there are quite a few kids out there.

We gave up as we never got any children, or maybe one or two. So now we turn the lights out and go out to dinner to treat ourselves.

Steady rain didn't discourage our crowd. We counted 304 visitors. All were polite and respectful. The last group was served at 7:54 PM.

About 1/3 of the kids were from other neighborhoods. I don't mind, it helps get rid of candy we certainly don't want to eat.

The weather was beautiful last night, perfect for little princesses and monsters. More of our immediate neighbors decorated their houses, so that helped attract t&t'ers to walk our side street. We had around 125 kids, and only 200 pieces of candy, so toward the end I switched to giving out one piece instead of two. Kids still said "thank you!". It was lots of fun :-)

No trick-or-treaters here either. But then I live at the end of a long private road in the woods. And my unit is at the back of the property down a long, dark, sloping walkway so didn't really expect any. But I had some candy ready anyways, as a couple appeared last year (very unexpectedly...scared the stuffing out of me!!).

murraysmom - we had a T-Rex too, and a horse!

We moved into our home during a year when Halloween fell on a Friday, and we had many kids. We like to give out king sized bars so I always buy too much as our numbers fall tremendously during the week. I'll be curious to see if Halloween 2020 will have big crowds again!

We are doing a home remodel so I set up in our driveway. We only had about 25 kids so I let them take 2. Usually I only let them have 1. Honestly I'll probably go back to that policy because a few sly ones took 3 or 4 thinking I wouldn't notice! I don't want to encourage greed.

I have quite a bit leftover. I might donate it but I've never done that before. A local dentist is buying it back for $1 a pound and sending to troops.

Left over chocolate bars (any kind ) are great chopped up and substituted for chocolate chips in your basic chocolate chip cookie dough for Christmas cookies.

I had to take my son some place. We saw a tornado off in the distance. It wasn't raining at my house yet. I got back home at the same time dh did. He turned on the lights and handed out candy while I heated up supper. We still had a good number of trick or treaters.
