11 year old kitchen - Spruce it up or leave alone
Comments (84)Great News! We received an offer yesterday! We played the game and countered, they came back and we have a signed contract for $510,000. Onto appraisals and inspections and hopefully house hunting for us! I know we're not out of the woods yet, but we're having a bottle of wine with dinner tonight!...See MoreNew house - Please help me spruce up my kitchen
Comments (18)Yes, this is a very easy fix with color on the wall. Yes to a backsplash and yes to paint. Think about painting the ceiling too. Pull the colors from the granite to design the backsplash and then go deep with the wall color to blend in the cabinets rather than have them stick out so starkly. The floor tile already looks good with the cabinetry so that's in your favor. Here is a before of my kitchen ... clearly it wasn't finished in this photo, but what I want you to notice is the paint color. The cabinets look flat even though there's color on the wall. Shortly after we moved in, I repainted to the deep rust color and suddenly the graining and the richness in the wood appeared. I'm sure your kitchen will be a real Wow! once you add some saturated color....See MoreHelp! - Trying to spruce up our new home...
Comments (4)It's probably the starkness of the white walls that make it feel cold. Do you have favorite colors, colors you detest(pink and lavender for me), or a color scheme you'd like to use (warm neutrals, greys, etc.)? SW kilim beige and nomadic desert (have them love them), accessible beige, balanced beige, bm revere pewter, shaker beige, and manchester tan are popular colors. If you choose a neutral background for the walls, lose the border and get new light fixtures, you can accessorize with brighter colors in manageable amounts and change it as you wish. You could also switch out the laminate for a color and pattern with a little more pizzazz for a moderate amount. How long has the house been empty? While I would definitely paint a nice neutral to freshen and warm it up, sometimes a house just needs a new loving family to breath life into it again....See MoreShould I do a full kitchen remodel or just a "spruce up" with this?
Comments (10)IMO a redo since having cabinets painted is expensive and the upper cabinets look like they wee replaced but the base ones look old . The island has to go and that will create the need for flooring and IMO if you are going that far redo the kitchen BTW refacing costs as much as new cabinets This is tiny space so switch the cooktop for a range and get rid of the wall ovens , a counter depth fridge for sure all plain old stainless appliances . If you truly want help here we need a to scale floor plan of the space how it relates to the rest of house and what you think your budget is. Use graph paper to do the plan it makes doing scaled easier . Show all meaurements clearly and make sure the drawing can be enlarged.Waht are the floors in the spaces around the kitchen , is thre a reason for the arch in that doorway? Is this for resale or for your own use for years to come?...See Morelisadlu16
