White Hexagon Floor Tiles - What Color Grout Did You Choose?
Comments (7)Thanks! It was a nightmare DIY project (moved shower and toilet locations which involved gutting the floor and beefing up the joists and tying into old 1926 plumbing. Ugh.) but we loved the result, especially at the ~$1200 price tag! Believe it or not, it's about the cheapest Lowes/Home Depot tile you can get. I really wanted the classic small penny tile but I couldn't afford it! I can't remember the brand... I just searched on line but can't find it. It's ceramic, and is actually an octagon-and-dot style in all white (it's more common and home-depot looking in the black and white pattern, around here.) I think the repeating pattern is about 4" x 4" and it's on 12" sheets. It was very afordable and the finished look was great. It also feels nice on bare feet, and was easy to keep clean. Sorry I don't know the exact brand/stule. We moved and I left the extras for the new owners......See MoreNot sure what tile to choose-help.
Comments (20)Good ideas on the subway! I'll look for larger tiles. Yes, I was thinking warm white. My woodwork is actually not white even though it looks white. It's a very very soft white. All the orangish wood floor will be changed and all the carpet will be wood. I'm trying to incorporate some grays into my color scheme. I like your idea about greige. In regard to the vanity, boy oh boy, that's stumping me too. Ideally, it would be nice to keep but I'm thinking once I replace the tile, it will no longer look good. It's a builder grade melamine vanity. Years ago, I peeled off the coating and painted it black. I'm thinking black may be too strong of a contrast so I'm thinking about repainting it and replacing the counter top. Thoughts on a good color combo? In all honestly, I'm still torn about the travertine tile. In some ways, I almost think it would work better with the current color scheme of my home. I always thought travertine was more traditional. I'm not worried about maintenance. We literally never used the tub. Some I'm so torn between the two tiles. I would like to paint the walls in that room a light, warm gray too. I will post pictures below of the remainder of my first floor to give you an idea of how my home currently looks. Just don't mind the mess! Haven't cleaned yet today lol. Thanks again for all your help! Excellent community here and so helpful to clueless people like me. :)...See MoreWhat color laminate flooring should I choose?
Comments (4)Small condos do well with lighter flooring. And laminate does NOT work well in kitchens. Leave the slate if it works well. Real slate has much more value than laminate - especially in kitchens. Photos of what we are working with would help....See MoreStaining hardwood floors, what color to choose?
Comments (12)It looks like the floors have been stained/finished to match the cabinets. If you must refinish them (and I would ONLY do this if they ABSOLUTELY need it) I would work with a water based polyurethane. Just as dcarendt has done, going NATURAL with a water based finish will offer a degree of separation which would be JUST ENOUGH to offer some visual interest. Personally I think the COUNTER TOPS need changing more than the floors. My first choice would be a CRISP white (no gray) or a soap stone/slate counter top would be EXTREMELY handsome. You need some CONTRAST in the kitchen. Right now you have mid-tone sitting on mid-tone sitting on mid-tone. You have the lightest version of "brown blahs" I have yet encountered. Changing the counter tops would be faster and probably cheaper than changing the finish of the wood....See MoreBusiness_Name_Placeholder
