new sofa - can't decide on leather and need to TONIGHT. HELP!
Comments (11)Don't rush your choice. SW used to say this all the time..“marry in haste, repent at leisure” I am not sure how much you are saving but even $500 might feel like a great deal but if you don't love it you could be disappointed. There was a just a recent post of someone who purchased a sofa. [I hate my new couch[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/i-hate-my-new-couch-dsvw-vd~5534919) Maybe the furniture place you are going to has a way to mockup a design for you with the large sofa in your space. You can visualize how it could look and it might be easier to make your choice. Hoping you get what you love....See MoreBuilding a house and desperately need help with the Master Bedroom!
Comments (19)Putting the bed on the 13' wall would work and could provide you with a sitting area. HOWEVER, if you plan to have a tv in your bedroom, generally those are placed on the wall opposite the bed and 18' would be a LONG way to have to see unless you have a large screen t.v. Have you considered NOT having double windows and doing two separate windows in each section. This is far from perfect but illustrates what having two windows could look like. I'd also increase the width of the front door, too, if possible, because it looks tiny compared to the double windows and large looming gable above it....See MoreHelp! Comments (18)likewhatyoudo - Thank you so much for those gorgeous recommendations. I do feel like I need something a bit more dramatic as everyone in our neighborhood is pretty much light gray. Just curious what is the equal of BM Embers to Sherwin Williams? And regarding your suggestions of beefing up columns, we actually replaced our columns last week which I've attached today's picture here so you can see it a bit more. I would LOVE to replace our door in addition but I don't have the $$ to do that t this time. Not sure if you saw another post I actually added this morning (titled: Help! Need to decide exterior paint asap! Looking for mok ups to help) explaining I just lost my job due to COVID so I'm scraping by gettting the little work done that is currently taking place (replacing awful wood rot and the load bearing columns) , and now getting to paint. So no wiggle room for anything extra though we are trying to get our front lawn to look good this summer (fingers crossed). I really do appreciate all suggestions though.....time is ticking and my fiance is going to ring my neck!...See MoreNeed opinions! Can't decide on kitchen design.
Comments (57)I really like Mama Goose's last design. I know it looks like there isn't enough space between the range and sink but you'll be doing all of your prep on the island. And if you're a clean as you go cook, the sink so close to the range is ideal. Her layout also keeps the kids out of the work zone as they can access the fridge, microwave and pantry storage without walking through the cooking zone. It's hard to say if you should be designing the kitchen with the assumption that you'll put sliders where the bay window is. If it's something you really want to do, it might be worth it to find a way to do it now. It all depends on how long you expect to stay in your home. We always operated from the perspective that we were in our forever home; we ended up living there for 25 years. As we prepare to remodel the house we just moved into, I'm less inclined to splurge like I did before because I don't see us staying here for more than 10 years. I'm always surprised and impressed by how many folks on these forums remodel kitchen after kitchen as they move around or build house after house. I think I'd rather have my fingernails ripped off. LOL...See Moreaprilneverends
