Remodeled half bath - beadboard and blue walls
Comments (7)Amainah, I love your bathroom. I've printed your picture for inspiration in my bathroom remodel. My only negative is the window treatment. It's much to ordinary for that beautiful room. One question, from your picture, it looks like the beadboard has a ripple or is that just the camera angle? Or could the top trim piece be a little too flexible? I might opt for standard wood trim unless this is just an optical illusion....See MoreWhat is a good beadboard for bathrooms?
Comments (11)Why 4x10? If it's a seam/layout issue you can overcome that with carefull planning. I made all my cuts fall on one side or the other of the "bead", effectively making the cut look like a part of the bead detail. Not sure if you've considered this, but 4x10 is going to be a real PITA to lift and move around...MDF weighs a ton. Just a thought on the 4x10...why not call Nantucket BB direct and ask if they carry it. My guess is they'll probably say no, but you can then ask them if they've ever heard of it in that size. I've also got to think they've got a pretty good idea of what the competition does....See MoreBeadboard in the bathroom? Advice needed
Comments (12)Thanks andrelaplume2--I know that Home Depot and Lowes carry beadboard, but from what I read after doing a beadboard search, the quality is not very good. Anyone here used their stuff? We had read good things about Nantucket Beadboard and were all set to buy it, but -- I called the one company in NYC that is a retailer this morning and they (after calling the manufacturer) told me that they didn't have the specific item I asked for in stock -- to make it, and send it, they told me it would be $500 for ONE 4ft by 8ft sheet. That is totally insane right? A New York Times article (from 2006) said it Nantucket beadboard cost $2/per square foot. Ugh!...See MoreWould like some combinations for toile/beadboard bathroom?
Comments (14)Thanks everyone, I can't wait either. Every week I ask DH, "Is it time to convert the dresser?" Poor guy is sick of me asking. It won't be long now. I wish once that bath is done the house would be ready to move in, but of course it won't. DH is taking it room by room for the finishing touches, not finishing as would say a regular builder and subs. Completely finishing that bath will be so exciting since it's the very first room I planned a design for. As promised, I'm going to take step by step notes and photo's of the vanity/dresser conversion for those who want to attempt this in the future. At the prices these converted dresser/vanities sell for retail, I told DH I know what he can do when he retires. LOL...See Moremaria101
