I was watching HGTV the other night and they installed tile that looked exactly like beadboard. It looked incredible.

Another idea is to do the beadboard in Azek instead of wood for high-moisture areas.

There is a pvc product available at Home Depot. I don't know the brand name, if it's Azek or not. That's what we're getting for our guest bath. It's a bit pricey, but if you use wood moldings instead of the plastic, it's a bit cheaper.

Pacifica makes plywood beadboard (comes in sheets) and it is rated for outdoor use (once painted) so I think it would probably stand up well in a bathroom.

Who knew there were so many choices for beadboard?

Thank you, msfidget and brutuses, for your suggestions. My brother-in-law suggested something very similar; but we are looking for beadboard that comes in sheets(to save labor). I found a plywood beadboard like budge1 suggested. It was called Ply bead classic, but it only comes in 4x8 sheets. We are hoping to find 4x10 sheets(again to save money), since our beadboard will be 5' high. I'll try to find Pacifica. Any other leads would be gratefully appreciated.

Google the Nantucket Beadboard company. I think it's exactly what you're looking for. It comes in 4x8 sheets 1/2" thickness. It's an MDF product so should remain very dimensionally stable in the bathroom. I used it in a 1/2 bath remodel I did in my last house and found it pretty easy to work with.

I actually got it at my local lumber yard. I'm sure the company can give you a local supplier.

Thanks spanky67. We have looked at the Nantucket Beadboard at a local supplier on Cape Cod. He gave us samples, and we love the wide width; however, it only comes 4x8, and we're hoping to find 4x10. If that doesn't pan out, we'll probably go with the Nantucket product.

Why 4x10? If it's a seam/layout issue you can overcome that with carefull planning. I made all my cuts fall on one side or the other of the "bead", effectively making the cut look like a part of the bead detail. Not sure if you've considered this, but 4x10 is going to be a real PITA to lift and move around...MDF weighs a ton.

Just a thought on the 4x10...why not call Nantucket BB direct and ask if they carry it. My guess is they'll probably say no, but you can then ask them if they've ever heard of it in that size. I've also got to think they've got a pretty good idea of what the competition does.

I would stay away from MDF for the bathroom. If water gets into the MDF is sucks up the water and deforms. Of course a good oil base paint would help but in general most suppliers say don't use MDF in water areas. I am about to do mine and will go with the PVC kind (but in planks) a bit more work but not too much.

I wanted the 5 ft. also in the guest room, but the 10' wasn't available that we could find, so I opted for the 4'.
