I'm going on a dream vacation!

The other day my sister told me that her and 4 other highschool friends were getting together in New York. I told my sister that it sounded like a lot of fun and now I am going too! Me and two of the friends will be flying from Wichita to Syracuse, my sister will be flying in from Orlando and we will be staying at our girlfriend's brother's house. When my sister told me it was a 17 bedroom house, I thought she must of meant 17 rooms. But she was correct and there are 17 bedrooms in this house! I don't know what all we have planned, but I know we are taking a Rail Bike trail ride through the Adirondacks. This vacation will occur in October, so hopefully no one buys this house before that.

Back east: I left the 14th st. NYC farmer's market 1990, but at that time and for some years prior THE folks to buy apples from were if I remember correctly Peter and Elizabeth Phillips. They were spry young pomologists raising a wide variety of heirlooms somewhere within driving distance and used to bring in a BIG truck of various apples and in season peaches of all sorts and other stonefruit, all of which was fantastic. I will never forget seeing the really old and seemingly infirm NYer's suddenly experience a burst of lionine elbowing energy when they spotted the russeted apples - watch out! Elizabeth makes a rhubarb marmalade she will not release the recipe for - I shipped myself a case of it when I moved here, which UPS disappeared. Later I remember seeing them or Elizabeth on Martha Stewart. Maybe things have changed, maybe alot, but that Farmer's Market was what all farmers markets should be, but unfortunately lack the clientele to support. Go if you can and see small farmers making an honest living from providing fantastic produce and animal products ethically raised.

And today is my first visit here after looking up adrenaline I sure understand better now That's what I have going on MY NATURE'S PACE MAKER.working. Adrenaline After a stay in icu heart recently everyone finally agreed i am mot crazy.it was.my heart. The docs installed is a device catch my heart acting badly is a heart tracker like halter monitor. Under my chest muscles on top of my heart. I can cause it record what just happened.. iam write with excitment because your stories are all so familiar. These stories for me begin after mitral valve repair. 7 years ago. Basic problem ..unless the doc sees the heart behaving badly they deny the problem. All this time we never could catch it Last doc said bluntly if we dont see it didnt happen. You must to er Well recent at 230 am it woke me up, just as you have described. I went directly to the er They caught the serious thing! Arrithemia and more then two days in icu. Now meds have slowed my heart from 70 to 52 while docs decide what to do. Last night I realized I was having an adreilin rush. The same rush I went to a neurologist for help. Over a year and half. Often it also affect my skin. Goose bumps crawling feeling all day long! Well have I got news for him.I was not crazy about that either. my gp I visited last month just to say. I know you don't know what is wrong but I still got it. Knows too I sat in neros office two months ago ,,,same thing. I said dr i just want you know ME when I end up in er..and i need you. well it was er straight to icu. Home now with electrical issues. Last last night meds have my average at 52 bpm.it woke me. 2 3 am. I use my tricks to get back to sleep.as soon as felt sleep coming on the stomach feeling spread. It woke me up heart pounding.sweat .out of breath!!! Happened several times . then checked average heart rate on my Garmin. 48. Average 48 so i was probably lower. Maybe 45! My natural pace maker kicked in every time sleep lowered bpm and I was short on air. Natural pace maker? Adrenaline can't wait to see what was recorded on my device Thank you body! Now I think i know what as going on for long time hidden from doc view. Electric shock adrenaline style

We've lived in several small cities in a number of states due to DH's job. We've utilized boarding kennels, pet sitters that come in, pet sitters who "adopt," multiple friends on certain schedules, exchanges with friends, and...I think that covers it! Although we've had a few bad experiences with kennels over the years, by and large the experiences have been good. Previous posters indicated that one should tour facilities and I heartily recommend that. At our last city, we drove past a kennel that was 5 minutes away to take the dogs to a kennel 45 minutes away just because the care was so much better. Know your dogs (or other pets) and know what a facility offers. If your dog can't play well with others and the kennel only offers open, group playtime, well, then that's not the facility for you. If your dogs enjoy lots of time moving around and getting some fresh air, then kennels that keep them inside except for 2x or 3x/day potty breaks aren't appropriate. In my own area, a lot of vet offices are like that. On the other hand, if you have responsible friends or relatives close by that can care for your pets or temporarily "adopt" your pets while you're gone, consider yourself very, very fortunate. Finally, if your pets have any special needs or temperament issues, be especially careful who you entrust with their care. The easiest solution may not be the best.

I strongly suggest that you do a boat tour of the Raquette Lake Great Camps, a stone's throw from where you will be staying. I spent every summer of my life from -1 to 16 at Camp Pine Knot (C.P. Huntington Memorial Camp), the very first of the Great Camps, designed and built by William West Durant in the 1870s.

WOW--that's fabulous, Jewels!! Even without all that luxury, you'll love the Adirondacks. My DH grew up in that area. So beautiful. Bring your hiking shoes!

My mother's family is from around that part of the world. That is one of the few areas of the country that I've visited more than once. It is beautiful! So glad you have a chance to go!

Leaf color in that region starts in mid-September and peaks near Oct. 1. The woods will be full of leaf peepers on weekends. I envy you!! Take a good camera.

The weather can be highly variable. Expect dampness to rain every 3rd day. You may have cool nights with warm afternoons. Watch the hurricane tracks for clues. A hurricane sweeping up the coast will bring rain to that region.
