What do you think?--Dishes in base cabinet or base drawers
Comments (22)dekeoboe I'm sorry, but I'm not sure where I found that particular picture any more. It was saved in my "storage" bookmarks but we decided not to use it b/c we decided to keep our dishes in upper cabs. It is possible that it was a UK only product b/c I know I found a bunch of things they have there that we don't that I am having shipped to cousins in Scotland and then sent over here. However, I did find several versions of it at US sites: Here is one: http://www.woodhollowcabinets.com/show.meta/cabinetaccessories Scroll down to "PLATE HOLDER INSERT IN ROLLOUT" I know this company is willing to sell just the insert/organizer pieces separately because I am in the process of ordering the OXO organizer from them (to get a general idea on price, the OXO thing I am getting from them is $225 inc. utensils). They also sell some pieces on eBay and have perfect feedback. You could order their version of it from them (disclaimer- I haven't actually finalized my order yet or received my item so I cannot attest to anything myself about their quality) Alternatively, a version is also available at: http://www.acornkitchens.com/Collections.aspx?name=Transitional Scroll down to " Drawer Accessories Vertical plate holder pullout" You could contact them to see if they would sell you one as well. (I know nothing about them, other than I found this on google) Hope that helps!...See MoreWhat can I do with 3" in a base cabinet?
Comments (10)I was thinking the same as 35ftcabo, only if you swap the trash and DW then you will end up with 6" of extra space for the drawer stack, going from 24" to 30"! I would also think about how you like the look of a tiny 3" pullout. Another option is to use the 3" to either side of the sink base and put in columns and make the sink side more of a focal point, perhaps bumping it out as well. In this situation I'd rather see symmetry as I don't think the 3" to one side will be that useful or look that nice. I don't think a 3" filler in the middle of a cabinet run will look that nice either esp if you are going full overlay....See More9" vs. 12" drawer base cabinet, sink base size and 4.5" space
Comments (18)Thanks for the headsup, angela12345. I measured the GD and went to HD to measure the interior dimension of a 30" sink base cabinet. My oh my, a 30" sink base is TINY! But, it will have to do for now. The 33" sink base has more space inside and I wish we could put it in our layout without my being so bothered. Sigh. Alas, I really can't stand how the spacing of the sink base is uneven in relation to the already lopsided window on the wall. It makes me feel I am living in the winchester mystery house! So far, I have ascertained that it can hold our trash, recycle bin and compost pail, with a smidge of room left for fire extinguisher. Definitely no room for insta-hot water heater and filter. So, we nix that from our wish list. I am looking for a single bowl undermount. After some online research, I found a kindred sink KCUS30A-10/10BG that I like but I don't know if it's available online or not. I wish I could use the ticor sink but the one I like needs a 33" sink base. Bummer. The kindred sink I am interested in will have interior dimension of 27"W x 16"L x 10"H. I think that will work beautifully for washing my long-handled pans. Here's the specs: http://www.kindred-sinkware.com/grfx/products/specs/KCUS30A_10-10BG.pdf. Hope Kindred is a good product....See MoreBase cabinet - Height from floor to usable lowest base drawer
Comments (13)surprised that no one has pointed out that the toekick is there for ergonomic reasons.Otherwise we would all have nonrecessed baseboards and drawers down near the floor. If you don't recess your baseboards you will have at least some scuffing or stubbed toes from others if not yourself. Why don't you like TK drawers? They are close to the same height as an inset cutlery drawer. My cabinetmaker is charging $90 per full extension TK drawer so I added them under all the wider bases. If you use frameless cabinets you will regain minimum 1 inch vertical height that you are losing to the slightly shorter cabinets since you will not have intermediate rails. That is probably a better way to go than lowering the toekick less than 3 inches, for your feets' sake....See MoreFilipe Custom Woodwork
