Roman shade ideas for 8 foot doors
Comments (1)I love the look of french doors framed with curtains instead of just roman shades: Or plain: Curtains without shades is a lovely look too:...See MoreAre 8 foot doors too high for a ranch house with 10 foot ceilings?
Comments (8)I feel there's no generic or a correct answer; it all depends on the layout whether you are referring to doors leading to bedrooms, office, kitchen or pantry, or bathrooms, or hallways etc. etc. An 8' door may look freakishly tall in one setting and may look quite normal or elegant in another be it 9', 10' or 12' ceilings. The door width will also determine it's visual impact. Our 8' interior doors are 36" glass doors, opposite each other leading to the laundry and walk in pantry in a section that has 9' ceiling; why? because the huge adjoinning family room has 12' ceilings with 8' glass wall of sliders each with 30" transom windows above, it ties in nicely. What I'm trying to say is, draw it out or visualize the impact of what you would see from any particular point or location in your home....See MoreHave an 8 foot sliding glass door but want a doggie door too
Comments (7)I found the slide insert inconvenient, and inefficient energy-wise, and deficient security-wise. Had a doggy door put in the wall and ABSOLUTELY love it! We live in the suburbs so we don’t worry about visitors. It does have plastic inserts to keep visitors out....See MoreSidelights for 8 foot entry door
Comments (7)When we lived in LA many neighbors were broken into ... none through front door sidelights. Preferred entry point is out of sight, and mostly the rear french doors or sliders. More recent break ins were climbing up and breaking into master bedrooms if they had a balcony and french door. Another reason for the second floor break in is that most people only have the first floor entry points wired for alarms, so the crooks didn't set off alarms by breaking into master bedrooms. PSA - make sure you alarm all entry points and add motion detectors downstairs and upstairs. Don't worry about pretty sidelights!...See MoreRelated Professionals
