Other considerations - you have living room seating for up to 26 between the two floors, but can just squeeze in 8 people at the dining table (that is floating in a weird spot relative to the kitchen, living area, and hallway) - while you may not require a closet and are planning on adding a wardrobe, add that in now - b/c I'm not seeing the width or depth in the 3 other bedrooms for anything as is (while still being able to walk around the bed) - while I understand you're trying to keep under 2000 sq ft, the utility room is so outsized for the house, there's the dead space between the island the living room (made more awkward by the dining table nearby) - if you have the ability to have living space on another floor, can 2 bedrooms and a bath move up there to ease some of the squish in the current plan? - if the views are along the top wall (by the dining table)? then think about how you invite your guests (and yourself) into the house - upon entering the front door, they're immediately facing a wall. Then they turn into the home space and it's the kitchen sink. Instead, image having an entrance that builds off of the beautiful views to usher people into the house. I guess I would start with the kichen being complete and that needs to done after the same flooring is installed everywhere I really am having some difficulty relating the pictures to the floor plan. In the pictures where is the mud room?

It isnt the size of the two different doors that is the problem. It is that the kitchen doorway looks like an after thought, and wasnt matched in to the living room doorway. It should have had the rounded appearance like your living room doorway. Right now, it just looks like it shouldnt be there. However looking at your floor plan, it does need to be there, but, it needs to be redone, so it is the same height and same type of doorway as your living room. It is also possible, that there was a wall through that room at one time, and that the kitchen doorway was always there, but, wasnt visible from the living room, which was smaller, until the wall was removed.

In V1 the sofa certainly doesn't work facing the wall like that. In small spaces functions do double duty - so circulation is captured by other functional spaces to make them seem larger. This circulation from the front door becomes play space for your kid, open to the seating instead of backs facing it. I presume a front door might be closed most times, so it just becomes part of the wall - the space is big and open so there won't be a feeling of a "hallway." When left open it is another window matching the french doors. V1 allows both french doors to be open in the main congregration area, so I envision a bright airy space. If you could move the toilet plumbing, though, I would flip the bed/bath so the bedroom gets the french door. Don't worry about wall hangings and where decor is placed - unless you are a museum - that just muddles creativity and forces additional restrictions. Get the bones done right first. If you don't want the bathroom door to be viewed, this version has extended a wing wall to limit that visual. However, in a small studio/1 bedroom you have to shift gears in how you think compared to a 2400sf house. Leaving off the wingwall places the french door more within the kitchen/living - the bathroom door can be kept shut, or left open with the bathroom window bringing in even more light and air. V2 spaces are further from 'golden rectangle' proportions. Bathroom wastes space. French doors would be better in the living spaces. Enter into kitchen area.
