Open Floor Plan Design Dilemma for Kitchen/Living/Dining Area

Hi all!

We have a new construction situation where we are (re)building the house foundation up as a basic ranch/modern craftsman home - single story, 1800sqft, angled car garage. (Previously it was a double wide with similar square footage/footprint. We demolished, took permits, drew plans, and rebuilt a similar layout house). Our main area of the home is an open layout with vaulted ceiling and will be the kitchen/dining/living room all in one. We are having some trouble with what would be the best layout for synchronize the 3 functions in this space so am in need of some of your creative awesome ideas.

We are a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kiddos). I'm not stuck on an open floor plan, we can change plumbing, electrical, even framing (would prefer to add framing as opposed to re-do framing, but all is open air).

Here are my dilemma points:

1. Don't wan't a crowded entry space. Especially when everyone gets home and wants to undress in the same spot by the door.

2. Would like to have a living room area maximized for play/sitting space. Maybe a fireplace/wood stove too?

3. Kitchen will be built for function; wife cooks a lot. Not quite sure how to maximize the layout to not look awkward when coming into the house, but at the same time don't want an odd gap between door entry and kitchen.

4. Dining table for 8-10
