Shark vs other steam mops
Comments (32)I've had my shark a couple of weeks now and can't complain. The microfiber pad stays very tight and it is not tied as in the H20. It is kind of a very hard velcro like attachment. It does NOT come out. It is really good on my terrazzo floors. I need to use both pads so I ordered the extra ones now. Cleaning of the pads are just a drop in the washer. I did use some clorox, not too much and they came ot great too. Of course they will never be sparkling white after the first mopping, but they will be clean. I did not have any issues with customer service, in fact it arrived really fast....See MoreGood vacuum cleaners for people with multiple pets?
Comments (21)Like Kittens, I have an 8lb Oreck and am very happy with it. I've had it since '94. It's needed new brushes and belts from time to time, and I've used it a lot. Pros are that it is light and adjusts from floor to floor- from thick carpet, to tile, to low nap rugs. Cons are that it uses bags, and also that it does not fit into tight areas- like under the toe-kick of cabinets. If I only had hard floors, I would probably not buy an Oreck. I've considered that my next vacuum might very well be a Kenmore or Electrolux cannister with a power brush head. They seem to be expensive, but I've heard some good things about them. For the hard floor areas, I LOVE my old Big Green Clean Machine. I don't know if they still make them, but I LOVE mine for dry and wet vacuuming (as well as wet carpet and upholstery cleaning). When it dies, I might have to settle for a shop vac....See MorePet Hair & Vacuums . . . Argh!!!!!
Comments (35)So far I like our recently purchased Miele Marin. We had a Kenmore Progressive canister vac. Still have it, but it's now DH's "shop vac" of sorts--he kept using it to vacuum up Sheetrock dust and sawdust while working on house projects anyway. The Kenmore is heavy, the canister as well as the hose and power head. DH is supposed to do the vacuuming, but I ended up doing it more often than not, and I always ended up with an aching back. The Miele is soooo much lighter and easier to maneuver, too. It came with a hardwood floor brush, and you can choose one of three power heads (at different price options). We chose the one that is recommended for low pile carpet. It has a button to turn the roller brush on/off. The other two power heads would have been more aggressive on the carpeting (and more $). Only two rooms in our house are carpeted, with Berber carpeting, so we chose based on that. We considered a model with a suction-only, multi-surface head, but it seemed to require much more "elbow grease" on the part of the user (me!) in order to move it across the carpet (in-store try-out, and another brand's loaner vacuum on our carpet at home). Also, multiple passes over the carpet still left behind what needed vacuuming up, including grains of cat litter tracked into the room....See MoreBirkenstock sandals on Woot clearance sellout!
Comments (15)Many of the Woot "deals" aren't that great, but many of them are really good. And every so often they have "Woot-Offs" which is where a product is "up" until it sells out then another product is immediately put up until it sells out and is replaced by yet another product, etc., etc. You never know how many of each product is available, so sometimes it sells out extremely quickly, and other times it takes hours and hours... They also have a limit (usually 3) on the number of each item that you can buy, but the good thing is that the shipping is only $5, no matter what you buy, how heavy it is, or how many you buy. An example of what I thought was a good Woot offer/purchase --- my iPad Air came with a 1-meter (a bit over 3 feet) Lightning cable. I wanted a 2-meter (slightly over 6.5 feet) cable, which is $29 when purchased directly from Apple. From time to time Woot has them, and they are $15.99 for a two-pack of the 2-meter cables, and sometimes they have 3-packs for $23.99 (they both work out to $7.99 per cable). I've also purchased additional Apple 12W USB power adapters ($19 from Apple) for $8.99 from Woot. Oh, there was the Apple EarPods with remote and mic ($29 from Apple) that Woot had for $22.99 for a two-pack. Yes, they are brand new, genuine Apple EarPods, cables and power adapters....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
