Laminate brand recs. (& what to stay away from)

Comments (3)We all could have told you that. It sounds like an acclimation issue. Where the wood gained normal moisture from the normal living conditions inside your home, swelling it across the grain, after it was installed tight. But then again, I don't know what the humidity level gradient from the basement to the upper living space, is. Sounds like the case of installers that did not know what a moisture meter, or a thermo-hygrometer were. Two very important must have tools of the trade, no one wants to pay for, or learn how to use properly. Just get it in as fast as you can and get paid, is what this country has turned into. There is a lack of PRIDE in ones craft, which is a direct result of the illegal aliens, lowering incomes for the true craftsmen, where they to have to gun and run too, to stay competitive, with the outrageously low prices that are being used today, compared to the rise in the cost of living. But then again, you didn't go to Lumber Liquidators, to pay the highest price. Someone that knows what they are doing, and takes pride in their work, will not be subcontracting to Lumber Liquidators, period!...See MoreStay away from these counter tops
Comments (228)I would advise you avoid doing business with AZ tile and Dean Jessup specifically. We had a horrible experience with them. Don't expect them to act with integrity or stand behind their product. We used a fabricator that was a personal referral from him. When we had discoloration and fingerprints that wouldn't come off of our Della Terra quartz he informed me I must have "scarred" it by cleaning with a paper towel. ( I called him within an hour of the fabricator leaving). We paid beyond stone to buff it with a cleaner at their recommendation. It mostly resolved the issue although as a result of the buffing the gloss and sheen no longer match our perimeter counters. Best we can figure out the fabricator applied turtle wax or something similar to disguise striations around the sink cutout. Which is why fingerprints couldn't be cleaned off. We still have some smudges. Bottom line rather than try to help us resolve the issue he was hostile and accusatory. He said the fabricator (a friend of his apparently) said it was fine so we must have done something. Do business with them at your own risk....See Morestay away from Viking
Comments (8)Gail, I was so frustrated trying to research appliances... it’s soooo hit or miss with almost everything nowadays! So I convinced my hubby to go to a fancy appliance store (we knew we wanted at least a 48” range) and I just wanted to jiggle stuff and try things out... I really thought I was going to go with a Wolf or Thermador. Anyways, we really liked this particular Viking, and it just didn’t have a bunch of electronics on it and my engineer hubby was really looking at it and he realized that even if it did start breaking down, it was all stuff he could fix himself and he has a fellow engineer friend/best friend (who took over his dads business and they fabricate many things) that could manufacture most parts as needed if we couldn’t buy a part easily... and then the deal we got was just soooo good (the owner of the store was FED UP with Viking because he’d been their only dealer in this area for decades and they started selling through his competitors and he was giving them the finger by dropping their line... okay... and this range was the final Viking product he had left in the store so it was deeply discounted, LOL! Right time/right place situation for us...) So we accepted the gamble knowing that we weren’t a typical luxury appliance customer with our circumstances. I totally expected Viking to be horrible to deal with... I was surprised when we had good service from them! Anyways, we’ve had a lot of Kitchenaid stuff over the decades... the products themselves have been mostly good, but a couple of lemons that we got, however, in our opinion their customer service has been excellent and they’ve gone above and beyond in some cases. Anyways, I’m sorry to hear you still had horrible service from them... and I hope I don’t have that same experience in the future... but I am glad to hear good things about Subzero. I’m not so enamored with Viking that I would buy any of their other products... this particular range just seemed like a good fit for our circumstances and I was pleasantly surprised with their service the one time I had to use it. I really like the subzeros I’ve looked at though....See Morechrissy0874
