are orb handles too dark on dark wood?
Comments (5)If you're having two finished for your cabinets, why not two finished for your knobs? In my kitchen, I wanted a semi-unfitted look, and so had a black tall hutch and red island in addition to my stained cabinets. The stained cabinets have ORB handles; the red island has black bin pulls and knobs; and the black hutch has weathered pewter hardware....See MoreIs BenMoore Ashley Gray too dark for kitchen & fam rm?
Comments (6)beekeeperswife - Thanks so much for your reply! I LOVE your kitchen and feel like I'm writing to a celeb b/c your kitchen has made it to the BIGtime. Really! Your gorgeous kitchen is one of my inspirations and your layout (kitchen next to family room) seemed similar to mine tho I can't remember whether you had the same ceiling in fam.rm. I've never done the 50% trick --but it sounds like a great idea for the vaulted ceiling. I want to avoid the stark color difference that I have now w/ the straw/vanilla icecream and reddish (I forget the color) accent wall. I also love your table and chairs in your kitchen -- would you mind telling me where you got them? I want to do a 42" round with leather chairs. Thanks again! caroleoh, thank you too!!! I wish I could wait, but we are hiring painters, who will paint right after the cabs go in... so I'm under the gun to figure out the colors and backsplash... And oh you have a goldendoodle!! My Bella (still a pup -just 1 1/2) would LOVE to play with Rudy. And I would love to get tips from you (sorry this is OT), on getting mats out!!!!...See Morekitchen cabinets just went in -- please, I need feedback!
Comments (28)sprice, I believe our uppers are 42". Yes we have 9 ft ceilings. There will be a "soffit" ( can't remember what it's called) from the top of the cabinets to the ceiling then trimmed out with molding - Thus the lack of paint! MY DH was not painting anything he didn't need too! LOL I will also post post pics when it's completely done. Casey I was going to do ORB pulls - but they wouldn't have worked on the dark peninsula... as you can see I did go with a ORB on the faucet. I also am going with ORB on the light fixture over the sink and the pendants over the peninsula. Yep- I am mixing my metals. I like to live on the edge....See MoreAnyone have dark cabinets AND dark granite?
Comments (17)we really stepped out of the box and went with espresso stained cherry, sedna granite, granite backsplash on cooktop wall, rubbed bronze door hardware. i dont like stainless, so we paneled appliances. although we did use harvest gold stain on refrig. and some trim pieces. we were afraid it was going to be too dark, but it looks awesome, imho. we do have a skylight, kitchen window, sliders in dining room and dining room window, so we do get alot of light. we also did 2 glass upper cabs. alot of people suggested a light granite, but none "spoke" to me and frankly i don't like the look of dark cabs with white or almost white granite. to me it looks commericial/sterile. i also did not do stainless/silver hardware. again, did not like the look and i really didn't want to see all this silver which in my opinion is what would catch your eye with dark cabs. i didn't want to really notice the hardware, just wanted it to blend. my advice, get what YOU love. you have to look at it everyday not the people who recommend "this or that". that's what we did and we don't regret it for a second. we still have a pretty big punch list, so i will post pics when all is done. best of luck!!...See MoreHU-21679716497
