are orb handles too dark on dark wood?

I will soon have a kitchen with light cabinets on the perimeter and a darkly stained island and armoire-type hutch.

If I go with ORB handles on the light cabinets will the ORB look too dark on the stained wood? Or maybe satin nickel will look good on both? Please refer to the photos below. I've even attached a photo of the antique brass too.

My sink will be SS, the faucet will be satin nickel, and all appliances are panelled except for the SS range. The granite on the dark island will be dark - Antique Brown, while the granite on the light cabinets will be as shown in the first photo. I have to choose the handles because the cabinet maker needs them when he arrives to put in the cabinets.

If you're having two finished for your cabinets, why not two finished for your knobs?

In my kitchen, I wanted a semi-unfitted look, and so had a black tall hutch and red island in addition to my stained cabinets. The stained cabinets have ORB handles; the red island has black bin pulls and knobs; and the black hutch has weathered pewter hardware.

That's what we have - the light granite balances it out and brings it together (our granite is very similar - Gold and Silver) - we love the combination.

I think you can use black hardware on just about anything. Looks beautiful on your cabs. I don't think you can go wrong with either ORB or black. Love your cabinet color BTW. We have dark cherry stained doors throughout our house and have ORB hardware(Including french doors to our library/office) and it looks good. Our front door is stained even darker and the hardware almost blends in with the door. Our trim is a similar white to yours(SW princeton white). I wouldn't worry about the hardware matching the hardware on the furniture.

I don't think antique brass goes with light wood tones. You need at least a rich midtone. I think painting the blades white would just make the metal stand out more (brass is lovely, but motors and brackets usually aren't meant to be have starring roles). I also think it would look like you took an old fan and tried to make it new -- not always the look you are after. I have antique brass with cherry blades in my LR and don't find it heavy at all. I do have 10 ft ceilings.

yes, but North facing and close to the neighbors house. currently blinds, haven't replaced yet. was going to do lighter curtains but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I agree w/Sweeby...use two different finishes; the ORB gets lost in the dark (black?) wood.

Unless you're going for an unfitted look, I'd use the same hardware, though. ORB on the white, satin nickel on the dark. If you are going for the unfitted look, you might consider complementary hardware, but not identical.

I think it's a personal choice. I wanted mine to blend in.
These are ORB on cherry with a expresso stain.

I have dark hardware on dark wood too - not orb but same effect. No reason you can't do that and keep the hardware consistent. That would be my preference if I were you - but I'm not so much into the mismatched look.
