Please help me with the menu for my graduation party
Comments (15)Thanks everyone, for your kind words and for your input into the menu. Yes Lindac - bubbly is a MUST! I anticipate a great deal of toasting..;) And I'd love your salad recipe if it isn't a bother to send it along. Mostly finger foods it will be, along with a salad or two and a simple dessert platter of cookies and loads of fresh fruit. Do you think it's ok if I don't have any hot foods? After all, it is August and hopefully the weather will cooperate we will be outside on the back deck. I'm thinking cold or room temp foods are fine. Do you think sushi rolls are ok? How many pieces total should I get? Thanks, AM...See MoreMenu planning help pls...Lunch
Comments (15)Glad to hear it went well. I love those kind of summer, salady meals! And I am a huge fan of anitpasta platters, where folks can pick and choose their own perfect little plates! As for lentils, like I said, I love lentil salad too and I always have to struggle getting the lentils just right--not too mushy, not to hard. I now special order French green lentil and also have tried the black beluga ones. They are both rounder and seem to be better for salads. But anyway, glad to hear the dinner went well. I knew it would! But I still love it when folks report back. What can I say, I am so busy and devoid of a social life I have to live vicariously through others, lol! So thanks for sharing the fun!...See Moreneed 3 or 4 week menu plan!

She has complete plans and shopping lists. http://www.savingdinner.com/ Hillbilly housewife is focused on saving money, but she has good ideas. http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/menuplanning.htm I've looked at Menus for Moms before. It's free, but I'm not sure of a shopping list. http://www.menus4moms.com/kitchen/weeklymenu/ This blog has a couple of hundred women listing their Monday meal plans. I've got to go back and check that. http://orgjunkie.blogspot.com/ scroll down towards the bottom of the page. I haven't tried this one, but she does have shopping lists with her menus. http://www.dinewithoutwhine.com/ http://www.mealmixer.com/ http://www.busymomsrecipes.com/menuplans4newbies.htm http://www.munchkinmenus.com/id8.html I've tried saving dinner and my family just didn't like her meals. What seems to have worked best for us is to sit down and come up with a list of as many meals that we can think of that we like. Kind of divide them up according to type and effort, then create a few plans and grocery lists. Gloria...See MoreMenu planning frustrations
Comments (12)amck brought up good points. Many of these issues are not medical necessary restrictions but what people prefer at the moment. I have a friend who prefers to eat glutton free but at restaurants or at someones house she eats what is served. A recently published study said that about 75% of people eating glutton free have no medical reason to. While its great to be concerned with the ingregients in your food, eating one meal that isn't "sugar free, etc" is not going affect your overall diet. People can simply choose not to eat something. I am, what many would consider, a picky eater. I do not like most of the food I grew up with (german, polish). I had many dinners at weddings and such, of just a roll and butter. Even now if I go to any type of buffet I usually only find a few things to eat. I don't complain or even mention that I don't like the food. Rarely do I go to someones home for a sit down dinner but can't remember not eating most/all of the meal. Most of my family and friends don't invite people for a small dinners. That being said I have no sympathy for requests that are not medically necessary. Its easy to just pass on a certain food or pick out the "celery". I've been doing it all my life. Perhaps a note on an invite that says "All I guaranty is that the food will be delicious"....See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
