Which walls should I accent? Open yet smaller floor plan.
Comments (5)Your blue TV wall is the only accent wall you should have. As sue j says, consistent paint color in open spaces is the way to go. Instead, use art work, pillows, and rugs to bring color to your space. The walls should be background, not foreground. Some suggestions to bring more texture and pattern into the space: --living room rug --blue/tan/dark red Consider looking for a midcentury style Craigslist search for a long, low credenza to fill three fourths of the TV wall. Your media console disappears into the wall--maybe a good thing. But if you see an affordable beautiful long wood piece for that wall, it would really add warmth to the room. Dining area: add a large art work to the wall in blues/tans/reds instead of thinking about an accent wall....See MoreCurtain advice to pair well with Wallpaper
Comments (94)Just FYI, bamboo shades, at night, when drawn and indoor lights are on, might as well not be there as far as being see-through. I know, I had them. Can be lined though. Although I loved the green, I have to say that the white walls since they don't compete, really bring out the beauty of the wallpaper. Does that print come in fabric? If not, I'd go with something in a solid, nice fabric maybe suede texture, that matches one of the neutral colors in the wallpaper. Beth H. had some FANTASTIC inspiration ideas. Let your art and cool mix of furniture and accessories be the star, not the drapes. Or find a gorgeous matching natural texture fabric and make some, but off-the-rack drapes are mostly pft. nowdays....See MoreWhat is Your Position on One Wallpapered “Feature Wall” in a Room?
Comments (72)Cran, I am usually the one who needs a fire lit under me! Arapaho I also gravitate towards greens and yellows and those are the predominant colors downstairs. I made a concerted effort upstairs to use blue and white and taupe in the main living area and secondary bedrooms. Tina, part of the reason I wanted to leave off the chair skirt is because I wasn’t sure I have enough fabric for it. A large plaid or pattern repeat means just a club chair skirt can take 3 yards of fabric! So after I saw the bed I called the upholsterer and told him to leave off the skirt and change the legs to turned ones. It was a question of necessity as much as happy coincidence....See MoreHelp in selecting an area rug with my Bold wallpaper
Comments (51)Hi Everyone!! Forgive me, I din't know what I am doing here. Hope this works! Its Deb with updates to my Family Room project after all your wonderful feedback. Before you comment, yes the curtains are shorter but that is because I am having Crown Molding added in a couple of weeks. And its not the exact rug I had selected either. I ordered two rugs; rug I had originally selected called "Beige" and the other "Cream", I felt that the beige rug was a little to brown and didn't blend as nicely as the cream one I selected. The curtains drive me crazy with the wrinkles, it took forever to iron and then I hang them and they are wrinkled again. I ordered a hand steamer and once it arrives I will have at those curtains again. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all of you for all of your responses and recommendations, especially those that worked late in the night helping me select a rug!! :) Without all of you I wouldn't have this new, bright, inviting look to my family room. I have had work done recently in my home and the compliments I received was incredible and coming from both men and women on top of that. I owe my sincere gratification to you all!...See MoreRobin Ming
