I was actually considering doubling up on the geometric where that other dome is, since they're in a transitional area. I thought it was going to be a bit smaller...

I don't think it looks bad, but it makes having the right dining table light extra important.

my other thought is move the geometric over where the second dome is. It's current spot I would want to go with something perhaps more flush mounted.

I plan on putting in a fan on that third dome.

I also see your point w/ recessed lighting.. (maybe where both dome lights are, currently? (maybe 4 recessed lights instead of those two flushmounts.

btw, this is what is was before (i hated it).

BTW, I love your dining room rug, and I'm a little partial to the dining table chairs since I have the same ones!

Now that I see the dome lights in the family room, they seem to line up perfectly with that geometric light. If it were my place, I would make all three of those (the geometric one and the two domes that line up with it) recessed lights. You can see all four of those light fixtures at the same time - visually it's a mess having different things going on with all of them. Adding another geometric one (an attention grabber) and a ceiling fan (an eyesore, from a design perspective) will just compound the problem.

Get yourself a beautiful light fixture for over the dining room table and let the rest fade into the background. You've got some cool pieces and can make a great space without having your ceiling fixtures do all the work to express your style.

I appreciate that's probably not what you want to hear but it definitely is what I would do. Hopefully some others will chime on and help you get it sorted out. Good luck!

Okay , please turn your boob lights into can lights. Thats the first must do. I would also turn the geometric into a can light. It is in the wrong place as an entry light. If it were an entry light it should be closer and centered on the front door. Because of your layout I think it would be better just to have can lighting. You have just got way too much going on in there. If you lose the pot holder light do you have a place to store your pots and pans? Its much to large and heavy for that space as well. I would do some very simply open style pendants there and one large rectangular fixture over the dining table. With all your trim work being painted out as it is and all those different oddly placed lights it just looks extremely busy in your space as is.

potholder light is staying. period. I love it and it is NECESSARY in this space due to storage limitations.

Help with the ask here folks... which is the light over the TABLE.

I'm experimenting with the entryway lights right now, but the kitchen table light needs to be the statement.

1. the pot-rack light combo is staying.

2. entryway is still up for grabs, but i'll make a choice when I get there.

I need help with the center dining light. that's it. So far, nobody has given any suggestion there.

My vote is for the first option over the dining table, the colors are great and suite your color scheme I could see it being a feature which would stand out and garner attention from guests in your home I like how it keeps with the iron and stained glass has steadily remained in style and it's such a neat feature to be able to incorporate in your home! Plus I like the other iron light and the design it produces on the ceiling, very cool.

I just read your post about moving the iron pendant to the other space and putting that recessed light in the center, and I think that's a good idea too. So then you would have a chandelier over the dining table, pendant in the entry, and recessed lighting in the transitional area.

Nicholas, your not getting any suggestions on the dining room light because it can't be decided in isolation. ALL the lighting needs to be dealt with at once.

Exactly what are you trying to achieve in this space, because it is overall way too busy. If you want a statement light in the dining room, you need to get rid of the 4,396 other tiny statements this room is making, from the oddly painted doors to the too short swagged curtains to the shelves with all the little tchotchkes.

If you got some extra conductor and chain, you might rewire the geometric light so you could use that over the dining table. Then change the boob lights to cans.

It was pretty hard to figure what you were asking ....and harder to really nail your style from the pictures....but my first thought was that you need to address the function of each of your dilemmas...the dining table light is important for lighting downward to the tabletop...so I would let that be the first feature to look for in your choice ........as to pot lights ...they serve a certain purpose as well and the ....location ....is most important .....so I would locate them them where needed ...not necessarily where the existing ones are located.....as to the entry light ...it is not clear where the entry is but that light should be near the entry so it is obvious what it is there for....as to your fixture choices they don’t seem to relate with the rest of your space but they do reflect a very eclectic taste ..it usually helps to define your style clearly before making your choices.....since this is a sort of permanent element they should relate to each other....if you really like the entry piece I would start with things with that look similar to that in some way
