Lighting Design Dilemma dining room

Need help choosing Dining Room light fixture!

Hi - need help with choosing a dining room light fixture! We don't have a big dining room space, especially since we will have a couple of stools at the peninsula, so we will have our table shifted towards the window of the dining room to provide more everyday space. This means that it will not be centered under the light. Because of this, I was thinking that we should have a flushmount fixture, as opposed to a hanging chandelier. Anyone have advice on particular light fixtures?

^We will have two of these pendant lights over our peninsula.

^Don't mind the mess. Still finishing up our reno!

I would do a chandelier and swag it to center on dining area.

Hmmm. It's amazing to me that this is the only fixture that has given me this much trouble. I've been holding most of my fixture order until I made this decision and thought there was no time like the present... I may have to stew on this overnight. Thanks to everyone for your input. It sounds like really, no matter which fixture I choose, it will "be ok". And none of them are extremely pricey (when compared to the rest of the house, :) ) so if I eventually find the "perfect" fixture, I'll just switch it out. oruborisThanks for the link to brightspot.com. Sounds like a fireplace re-do might be a longer-term fix. In the meantime, I'd paint the mantle a dark brown, a similar colour to your end tables. It's not trim and shouldn't be white. It pops out too much in the white colour. Another idea that doesn't involve any ripping-out is to go right over the existing mantle using a mantle slipcover in wood. I agree that swagging it over to the center of the table. What do you think of these options below? These are probably not the right size so depending on your table size there might be size options. Thought the gold finish would be a nice compliment with your pendent. Or you can always do a bronze, like the 2nd option. Bronze is always a nice neutral that can go with everything. Good luck!

Hello, In addition to hand-building copper lanterns, Bevolo also has iron chandeliers and vintage fixtures. We offer a complementary design serviceand can scale out the proper size fixtures for your rooms, based on your ceiling heights/table dimensions. From your picture I think our Spanish Stables No.006 chandelier would look great over the table. Another option that would work well is the Square Hanging Light. Also, we have a pendant option that is very similar to what you have pictured for your peninsula, called the Barber Shop pendant.
