Need help - - front load washing machine (water & mold).
Comments (50)I have a Whirlpool FL now for about 4 years. I always wipe out the boot or gasket whatever and remove and drain the dispenser tray so no issue with mold. However, recently, I notice when I am wiping it out, there is a lot more water in there. I've tried to figure out what is going on. Nothing has changed, I did not move the machine, I'm doing the same size washes and all... I did come across a youtube saying to take a q tip to clean out some holes.. I really don't see them but it makes sense. Anyone have a dummies diy guide I could try? I'm convinced it shouldn't be a big deal but I am toying with calling a ((gasp)) repair person. Among my searches, this thread came up....See MoreElectrolux front load not rinsing out all the soap from machine
Comments (67)Mark the washer did not smell at all. I opened up and I smelled every single part of that machine. Undid hoses, smelled the pumps etc. The smell was in the clothing. Towels were completely fine. Sheets were completely fine. The smell only came when I washed clothing. When I got my new machine I still got the smell when washing clothing because the bio stink was in the clothes. I had to wash all our laundry multiple times on sanitize cycle with ammonia to finally get the smell out....See MoreLG front load washing machine
Comments (30)Thanks for sharing Rita. My inner laundry nerd is happy now! Amazing, isn't it, how quickly you can see a difference? I was stunned too when I got my new washer a couple of years ago. I wish you many happy loads of laundry going forward! FYI, I usually have to order powder Cheer and Tide with Bleach from Target or Walmart as my local merchants don't have it most of the time. I can get powder Tide (regular) from Costco when they are not out of stock and sometimes it's on a $6 coupon, which is nice. There was no powder Tide at my Costco for a couple months within the last year and I kinda hit the panic button there. haha...See MoreFront load washer machine question...
Comments (53)"It may be **just laundry** but I know the stench clothing can take on if less than thoroughly cleaned." I find this statement almost absurd!! If your washer is working properly and you use the correct amount of detergent (excess detergent tend to create excess suds that just redeposit dirt back onto the clothes), there should be no stench. 'Clean' laundry should smell just that.....clean! I've been doing laundry for more than 50 years, including for a husband that smoked and sweated like a pig and even pet beds and blankets, and I have never had anything come out of the washer at the end of a wash cycle smelling anything other than clean and fresh. No 'stench', ever!! btw, I tend to use warm water virtually all the time, as most laundry will come perfectly clean doing so. I only use hot on whites or items that are heavily soiled. I also have a Frigidaire frontloader at this house - the first I've owned - and I find it does just as good a job as any of the top loaders I've owned. No mold, no musty smell (it's in a hallway so can't leave door open). And it has both a separate rinse and a rinse/spin cycle....See Moremelissa deangelis
