to save water, which front-load washing machine?
Comments (8)I would also not get a maytag...did u try epinion.com? I recently had a washer repaired and the repairman and I spend most of the hour he was here discussing front loaders. He said stay away from Maytag also. The repairs are frequent and expensive on their front loader. Maytag just "ain't" what it use to be...I would not own another maytage appliance even if they gave me one. Several years ago, I bought one of their top end refridges...side by side with digital veggie drawers for longer lasting fruit and veggies. More even temp control. Well, I loved it, the veggie and fruit kept far longer and better quality. But three months after we bought it, I woke to the smell of fire. The fridge had burned during the night..melted the inside completely thru. A wiring harness for the drawers inside the sidewall caught fire. My brand new fridge was toast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For three weeks I had NO fridge while I argued with them daily. This was the offer they made me. The fridge we had bought was discontinued )I suspect because of fire issues since it was a brand new model to begin with). Since our model was discontinued, we could choose from anything of the same value or less. Well of course there was no same value...and less was several hundred dollars less and considerable options less.....so because they made a fridge that caught fire and could of burned my house down, I should not only lose the food inside it (it was packed, both fridge and freezer) but I should also take an additional loss and settle for a lesser fridge for the same money I bought the higher end model. No money refunded....that was it, suck up the food loss, take a lesser fridge, and they keep the money diff. No way was I going to settle for that. After three weeks of arguing daily and eating out of a cooler, I got them to refund my total purchase price including delivery(they wanted me to eat that expense also orginally) and 100 dollars for the food. That was their last and final offer. I took it, but I should not of had to fight for it for three weeks. As far as I am concerned Maytag no longer stands for quality and service as it once did. I will never buy another maytag again in my whole life, nor would I accept a free one. I also already owned a maytag dishwasher at that time. This spring that dishwasher was in the national recall for fire hazards. It might catch fire. I already woke to smoke from one maytag and here was the only other maytag I owned also recalled for fire hazard. That speaks volumes for me....my family and home is far to important to ever own another maytag again.....so when my repair man said stay away from maytag front loaders I was thrilled to hear his advise... :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Avoid maytag at all costs...at least research the reviews on them....See MoreDo not buy a Frigidaire Electrolux Front load washing machine!
Comments (16)I have worked for two family owned businesses. One a twenty million dollar business and the other 80 million dollar. I still work for the last one, but it was acquired by a billion dollar, publically traded business. The ethos and work environment are very different between a family owned and publically owned business. There were years in the family owned business where the owners invested millions of their own dollars in the business and i know that they made less money in those years. You could walk ip to owner and talk with him. You could tell him there were problems with a product that needed to be fixed or improved. He actually listened and spent money on improving the product. We never felt the pressure to cheapen the product to make more money, but keep the price the same or lower. We made a lot of the parts in house. Outsourced machining was usually done locally, not made somewhere in china. A lot of that mentality changed once the company was acquired. Lots of systems and processes changed to meet the new owners priorities. The new owners were not a family. They were an invenment company. No one family owner who saw the company and its employees as part of a larger family. So I dont agree with your premis that private companies are chasing quartely profits. They for sure track them, but there is no preasure pf losing your job if you have a couple down quarters or a year. That makes a world of difference in how the compies are run and how employees are treated....See MoreNeed help for a new Top Loading washing machine
Comments (7)We have 11 SQs in our business and love them! They recently discontinued the top two models of SQ with timer controls and replaced them with electronic controls. Some other changes are that they now fully fill without having to adjust the water level. They meet water use standards by offering an Eco cycle that uses a spray rinse. There is also a conventional fill the tub rinse on other cycles. My SQ(timer controls)has a spray rinse followed by a tub rinse for the first rinse. I am not sure if the new ones do that for the regular rinse. There also seems to be a third rinse available for those with allergies. We have severe allergies so I do a wash with single rinse and a second light wash with a little water softener to remove detergent and single rinse. I get one warm rinse that way. There is still a basic model available with timer controls....See MoreWhirlpool Top Loading Washing Machine MOLD
Comments (13)It's a 2009 model year. The serial number is coded for the year and week of manufacture. The only way you're going to get at the residue is disassemble. Disconnect the power cord. Press a putty knife or other thin blade into the seam between the top deck and front panel at about 4-1/2" to 6-1/2" from both corners to release the latches while pulling upward on the top. There's a positioning block nearer the corners so don't confuse it for the spring latches. May have to probe in the seam to find the latches. Some water may spill from the dispensers when the top is raised, maybe place small cloths into the dispensers to absorb it. Have a helper hold the top up. Remove the recirculation hose from the tub cover (should be at the left/rear). Find and release the several latches that secure the tub cover to the tub. Press down on the tub cover at each latch to help release it. You can then clean the underside of the tub cover and as far down as you can reach around the inner drum. Be careful of sharp tabs on the outside of the inner drum at the perforations....See Moredblevin
