Of the crocus that seemed to be absent, I found one under the litter that poked through the soil. I have also found four tulips (in two different spots) on the shady left side. This confirms that bulbs on the shady side will in fact grow, but not at the same speed as the ones on the right side. This is great news, because this means the total blooming period will be stretched by a few weeks, maybe even a month, so I will have a longer spring bloom than most of my neighbours, who have similar conditions on both sides of their entrance. In short, I will have tulips when the neighbour's tulips will be long gone. Thanks for your encouragement! P.S.: I just found out that last year's daffodils (which will bloom for the second time this year) will have on average three times as many blooms. Of the few that are already lush and leafy, most have three flower stems with juicy buds rather than the one each they had last year. About 25% of them already have babies, too, because some of the new growth is a couple of inches further from the mother. They are planted close enough together that they will form a uniform patch of happy flowers, but not close enough that I would have to lift them just yet. Not all daffodils are created equal and I know not all naturalize and increase over time, but this one is really fast. If you are looking for white daffodils that will increase rapidly without much help (they didn't get shrooms, I only added a bit of peat moss to their planting hole to sweeten the clay and only gave them one shooter of liquid fish emulsion after they were done blooming), look no further: Mount Hood daffodils are most satisfying. They are also huge (three inch diameter flowers, close to 1.5 foot high) compared to other daffs. Oh, and these daffs were bought at the worst place for bulbs - at a big box renovation store! Just sayin'!

I just love the blue gray colors - but not sure how they work with the rugs - that have no blue in at all. Front porch railing - yes, it was installed Friday! I'm excited about it - took 5 months to get! I posted an update on the front door thread. The SW Creme is in the big white color brochure. It is SW 7556 Creme, it really is such a pretty, soft color! The dining room table is 3 years old, I found it locally and ordered it online from Lexfurniture (saved a lot!!) It is by Lorts (http://www.lorts.com) and available with or without a plank top. Great, great, great suggestions!! I can hardly wait to start shopping, but I know taking my time is important! I need to decide on a mantel... we have been playing around a bit - but a week ago.. DH almost cut his thumb off on a table saw! He had surgery Friday to reattach all the nerves and the tendon, and he will be okay - but it is putting a halt to some of our restoration. homeagain, Coastal Cottage or English Cottage.. I'm not sure! I know I don't really want Shabby Chic, and I love coastal cottage, but I do find I'm drawn to English Cottage as well... a bit of design confusion! YIKES! I never imagined opening this thread and finding a stitched body! LOL Barbara, it sounds like you "have a life!" Even so, I can't help but think that maybe the other four feet should have been done in between those Thursdays. LOL Just think, by the time you get the scarf done, you'll have a new coat and need to find someone who can use a nice homemade scarf for a gift! ;o) My very first afghan took me 7 years! I keep it next to "MY chair" and every time I sit down, I pick it up. I have a self-rule, I need to sit for about 2 hours early in the afternoon, to get my feet up for a while. So I turn on the TV and grab my knitting. Lindsey, The "purl" stitch is my favorite and that is the one I can do w/o looking (and seldom make a mistake.) When I try to do the knit w/o looking, I end up needing to pick some stitches off. That I hate! Sandy, LOL as it got bigger the "hot-flashes" increased! I had to hang it over the side of the chair instead. Sorry girls - You can't have it cause it matches my bedroom! It is just big enough to throw another layer on top, on the really cold nights, or like now when the heat is almost turned off. I'm really taking a likeing to that baby yarn and the thinner feel. It's plenty warm.

OK...I think there is a conspiracy against me to get my UFOs/WIPs done. I keep adding NEW projects to my list. My "excuse" for this one is that I love to applique...& I have an outragious amount of scraps that are begging to be used. I will machine applique this later...maybe after I have a few blocks done. I might have to redo my sun. I don't really like it. Maybe it's too orange/gold?
