Desperately need help with our living room layout!
Comments (6)I'd put the TV catty corner in the corner where there is only one window, and put the large sofa in the center of the room, facing the fireplace. Get a console table to put behind the sofa so that it looks finished when you walk into that area. You can put knickknacks on it, a lamp if you can figure out how to get it plugged in, etc. Then the love seat pulled out from the wall where the TV is now and centered between the end of the arm of the sofa and the FP. Or, even better, move the love seat somewhere else in the house and get two chairs (with ottomans? for one only?) and put them side by side in that area with a small table between them. So you've created an L-shaped seating area for conversation and TV watching that is its own space, so to speak. Coffee table yes. But because you've got wall-to-wall in there, I'd get a SMALL rug to put under the coffee table only, a rug that extends beyond the coffee table by 2 or 3 inches. Area rugs don't look good on wall-to-wall carpeting, esp. carpeting with some pile to it, as yours appears to have, as it gets lumpy from people walking on it....See MoreLiving room in desperate need of help
Comments (18)I'd continue the wood flooring into that space and add an area rug. Then, a long beautiful sage green sofa and two cool chairs. I would keep the tile on the fireplace but ditch the surround and mantel and hearth. That area needs to be reworked. My cues on color came from the mosaic. It looks like it has pink and sage? I like those colors. If this is way beyond budget just eliminate the yellow love seat and buy a rug and two patterned chairs with a tic of yellow. Most of these rugs are on Overstock....See More18ft tall living room wall - Desperate Need of help with decor
Comments (10)How are the acoustics? It looks like a reverberating HELL to me. You need a rug and a lot of soft surfaces to absorb the noise, more substantial drapery for a start. The art in a picture posted above on canvas with a soft look, mostly canvas no glass, would help-a few of them!! The tall wall will disappear if you give eyes something lower to look at....See MoreDesperately need help with this dated living room redesign.
Comments (36)I wanted to suggest you try something in your dining room. Move your 2 upholstered chairs from the ends of the table to face each other in the middle, and put 2 wooden chairs on the ends. i would also move the candlesticks to the sideboard and while i know you are trying to update, i think a lace table cloth might look nice on your table And clip on mini shades for the chandelier...See MoreRelated Professionals
