Design Dilemma living room Home Decorating

18ft tall living room wall - Desperate Need of help with decor

My living room wall is 18ft tall and I have the slightest idea on what to do with it. The only think that will stay is the 75” TV. Would
love to keep the 2 side speakers to be able to use the entertainment system inside the console. But, the speakers are also throwing me off with decor ideas. Please help! It is greatly appreciated. I want to be a me to finally sit and sip a cup of coffee in my living room without thinking about this wall. All ideas are welcomed. *The main wall is not a darker color. Just looks it on the pics. I bought the cream sofas (2 of the them) , mirror coffee table and area rug. Thank You!

How are the acoustics? It looks like a reverberating HELL to me. You need a rug and a lot of soft surfaces to absorb the noise, more substantial drapery for a start. The art in a picture posted above on canvas with a soft look, mostly canvas no glass, would help-a few of them!! The tall wall will disappear if you give eyes something lower to look at.

Is the TV at the best height? Seems just a bit high.

What is the small arch to the left of the TV? I is a niche or an entry to another room.

Are the sofas in the second picture the ones you purchased? Love them.

The rugs you posted look great but reds are notoriously hard to match. With a predominantly red rug, if the red of the chairs and the red of the rug are off, it will be much more noticeable. If you have a red skirt and a red blouse and you try to wear them together, it will be obvious if they don't match. If you wear a cream blouse with a small red print and a red skirt, it's not as noticeable if the reds don't quite match. Does that make sense? It looks to me like the cream version of the rug I posted has red and a bit of green in it should tie all your furniture together. I think the blue might work as well. The rug doesn't need to match everything in the room.

Hi Alma, Let's start with your furniture layout. Just to make the room feel better without making major changes move the single recliner out of that corner and to the other side of the sofa on an angle. Then, bring the sofa closer into the room so it lines up with your hall wall and slide the loveseat down closer to the sofa creating a nice spot for a shared end table with a lamp. Position you coffee table so that it is centered on the sofa/love but enough space to open your recliners. If you still have room between the Sofa and chair, Add another table and lamp. Next find curtains that are long enough to just touch the floor. Simple changes can make a big impact.

Thank you MSDG I don't know if I'm doing paneling work -- I need help designing the entire wall. The firebox cannot be moved because there is an egress window right next to it on the outside (basement). I'm not looking for the black/white look, I was showing the photo for the mantle style. What do you mean "Furred out portion around fire box?" Do you mean the marble before the wood post section? I can't decide if I should do a heart or not. I like it sometimes, but I need to figure out the entire wall to see what looks good together. I also like the look of a window seat, but I don't want it to look so casual like a kitchen bench. Do you think I should put a new window only on the right side of the fireplace? What are your thoughts on a bench seat underneath it? Thanks so much for your help!!

You do need something larger...about 75% of the sofa's length could be nice. Also, you have that hung too high. Don't go more than 6-8 inches above the sofa. Adding a bit of color would be nice IMO. Lots of choices with what you have now.

Thank your for responding! The TV is what my husband and I think is at eye level. The small arch is an entry to a bedroom. Thank you 😊 Couldn’t find the same exact sofas, but close enough. Here are pics of the one I bought.

Houssaon, with regards to the TV, I am open to moving it to a better space on the wall. I think it’s not centered to the wall.

There is special place in hell for workers who put a vent in the middle of a wall like that.

With tall walls you decorate at normal height. In your case that's probably about where the vent is. Paint the vent the wall color. Center the TV. Get a TV console that is about 90" wide and 30-35" high.

Paint vent color same as wall will help with the eyesore. The media cabinet seems small compared to TV. The speakers are never going to look good but men tend to love them. :)
