Desperately need a designer/decorator's help with this fireplace wall!
Comments (2)Thank you MSDG I don't know if I'm doing paneling work -- I need help designing the entire wall. The firebox cannot be moved because there is an egress window right next to it on the outside (basement). I'm not looking for the black/white look, I was showing the photo for the mantle style. What do you mean "Furred out portion around fire box?" Do you mean the marble before the wood post section? I can't decide if I should do a heart or not. I like it sometimes, but I need to figure out the entire wall to see what looks good together. I also like the look of a window seat, but I don't want it to look so casual like a kitchen bench. Do you think I should put a new window only on the right side of the fireplace? What are your thoughts on a bench seat underneath it? Thanks so much for your help!!...See Morein desperate need of help decorating new home!
Comments (23)search for minimalism interior design. Its new trend. To me, the sofa color is too dark compare to the wall. And try to match same color. Black and Brown are not go well usually but if you go with just one color, it would be better. Your floor and TV stand are brown but fire place and sofa, TV, carpet are black, and wall is white. Go with Black or brown, just one. Also there's furniture sale on World Market. Comments (1)I see a few things that aren’t horrible, by any means, but could be changed. Mirror and sideboard, for instance, as mirror is too large for the sideboard and it overwhelms the room, reflecting the t v. Try the art over the sideboard and add a floor lamp where the plant is, as it will do double duty for the sofa and the art. Have you ever thought about adding a floor to ceiling strip of trim to separate the dining area from the living area and painting that wall a color? Something like this with a couple of white shelves on that wall?...See More18ft tall living room wall - Desperate Need of help with decor
Comments (10)How are the acoustics? It looks like a reverberating HELL to me. You need a rug and a lot of soft surfaces to absorb the noise, more substantial drapery for a start. The art in a picture posted above on canvas with a soft look, mostly canvas no glass, would help-a few of them!! The tall wall will disappear if you give eyes something lower to look at....See Moreavp1234
