Fixed shower head is way too low - please advise!
Comments (6)You could add a handheld. You might search for one that mounts wherever you want, instead of just at the same height as the present one. I don't know if the handhelds attached to a sliding bar could be plumbed straight to the existing pipe or not...but someone here will. http://www.efaucets.com/detail.asp?Product_Id=27%20142%20000 Here is a link that might be useful: Handheld...See MoreSubway tile shower: niche 3/8" higher than 2nd niche. Noticeable?
Comments (9)I think this is what you are saying. Your niches are not like the original image but they are lined up in the middle of a row of tiles. But within that row, one niche is 3/8" higher than the other, like this: It would bug the heck out of me that they didn't start on a full tile in the first place, but that's usually how it ends up most of the time, like A or B. On top of that there is the3/8" height difference. I would have to compensate for this at the very least but using grout that matched the tile so I wasn't visually measuring that all the time. However, I was trained to differentiate between 0.5 of a mm for my job at one point, so 3/8" is huge to me visually. Not so with many people. Why do you know about it? Did you notice it yourself? If you did I think you have to have him change it. But if not, use grout that minimizes it....See Morereroute shower valve or move shower head each shower/niche/which door?
Comments (14)Thanks much and beautiful showers! I am confused about the thermostatic valve. Is this something that I can buy separate and have it installed in the wall so that anytime I change out the shower handle/trim/valve it will automatically be there and still be accessible if it breaks and I need to change it? I hate to have more moving parts and things to break inside the walls. LIke this (although it looks like part of this would stick out of the wall?-another hole?: https://www.amazon.com/Rozin-Thermostatic-Mixing-Temperature-Control/dp/B01FAGWKTC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542006430&sr=8-3&keywords=thermostatic+control+valve#customerReviews Or does do certain valves come with it like this?: https://www.amazon.com/Hansgrohe-04231000-Thermostatic-Control-Diverter/dp/B07FDFK5SM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1542006430&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=thermostatic+control+valve&psc=1 I was wondering, also, it sets the temp but the initial issue of being cold while the water warms up since it has to run through the pipes would still be there, right? Problem is, I have chosen champagne bronze and if I need to get the thermostatic control valve built in I think that will be hard. I'm already having a hard time finding a handheld and shower head built into the same. I might have to get a separate handheld to divert water or I'm back to the initial question of do I just push the shower head over to shoot towards the wall before I turn on the H20 or go back to the idea of moving the control valve? Here's one of the options I was looking at for a showerhead before this discuss that I might need to adjust: https://www.amazon.com/58471-CZ-PK-H2Okinetic-4-Setting-Handshower-Showerhead/dp/B009MLXJN8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1542006748&sr=8-2&keywords=shower+head+combo+with+handheld+champagne+bronze...See MoreUnhappy with shower niche. Is it just me?
Comments (37)I haven't read all the replies but I agree with Joe that the idea of contacting an attorney, if someone mentioned that above, is a poor one. The litigation results aside, you'll blow through more money going that route then simply ripping the niche out and doing a "do over". I disagree that "It's not bad". That said, in the past I've complied an annual quote list from the forum posters and one of them by a homeowner you might find of interest. He wrote: "During our first build, we noticed that one of the newly-installed master bathroom windows was both inoperable and off-center. Weary of the process and eager to get into the house, we didn't raise the ruckus we should have. That damn window has been driving me bonkers for fifteen years. Fifteen years, people. Fifteen years... age 36 to 51, every day, the window has been there...” Unless you get it fixed one way or the other, every time you take a shower that niche will be there....See Morecpartist
