Do you ever have mixed feelings about spring?
Comments (30)dedtired - I am just like you - I put on the hat, scarf and coat over my "house outfit" to walk the dog etc. and look just fine. For the summer (note I did not say spring because really spring is usually freezing) I have 2 cotton coats that I bought at consignment shops - they are not lined and are about the same weight as a cotton housecoat. So I put those on, particularly when I have to walk our dog - he is always on a leash so I have to go out with him. I have summer hats that I put on my head (auburn hair - coloured of course, but it fades and I burn in a nanosecond anyway). I also suffer horribly from allergies and am allergic to anti-histamine. I did try the shots but had a reaction to them but I so love the really warm summers - 90 F would suit me just fine - with no sun. Bugs love me - the whole animal kingdom does. I remember back in the day when we actually had 4 seasons, now we seem to have one - winter and a bit of summer which is really like spring used to be. heather_on - Bite your tongue. Please not a COLD summer in Ontario (at least not in Toronto). We have had a few and frankly I do remember people complaining about them. I hate the snow and ice and my 9 year old dog loves to eat it and we seem to have salt alternative everywhere. I have been looking at him and asking him why he can't use the toilet - that is how much I hate going out in the cold. It isn't the walking part I hate - it is the "out". Eskies are very cat like - except they need to go out. So I am hoping for a "real" spring - back when "put on your Easter bonnet" was possible....See MoreFeel like I'm about to pass the winning post
Comments (12)Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions for finding movers. There is something poetic about this sale: DH and I are moving to Tennessee to be close to my 80-year-old mom, who has become lonely as her friends have passed on and she finds it harder to get out and about, and our buyer wants this house because it is a block away from his widowed mother. We are eager to meet the gentleman to find out a little about him because his approach to home maintenance will have direct bearing on what we have to take away, give away, or sell. If he prefers to have service people take care of the lawn and gutters, he's not likely to need or want a 20-ft ladder! And yes, Lucy132, you nailed it -- Silver Spring it is! I just noticed that our listing at Realtor.com has been pulled. The link shows the house as it looks today, but the listing and price info are from 2003, which is when we purchased it. Very strange....See MoreA Feel-Good Story About John Glenn (Little Long But Worth the Read)

Comments (46)Sueb20, yes white walls, beams, cabinets and counters, which does got with stained trim/doors/windows which are still there and the travertine flooring - both are warm tones. I even saw a touch of medium gray on the coffee station.... AND they painted the travertine FP surround. The next week, DH wanted to get out and go for a drive, so we rode past the nearby house where we lived for 20+ raising our children. What was a lovely landscaped corner lot has been completely destroyed. I knew they were not "yard people" but had a landscape company. Clearly, cutting down hundreds of azaleas, wild hydrangeas and trees were easier than keeping it up. Two large natural areas now have weeds and/or being invaded with grass. In addition, they painted the top part of the house a dark grey. It looks ridiculous. Obviously, I am not over either of these discoveries. LOL Sorry to hijack your thread. Congrats on the quick offers. Here's to a stress free inspection and closing....See MoreElizabeth
