I've never taken a bath in one of the new freestanding tubs but my thoughts are they look uncomfortable and would be difficult even for a 20 year old to get in and out of. They do look very nice but I am not sure how practical they really are.

Suggest you go to a few showrooms and try out the tubs. Some are definitely very uncomfortable, at least they were for me. It will depend on the length of the tub ( inner dimensions very important) and the slope of the back. What's comfortable for one person may not work for another.

Thanks K. Holiday, I will go check out that tub at a showroom. Hopefully they will have it on the floor. It looks like it has a nice angle to it. We are also worried about fitting a new tub through the doorway. Did you have any problems with that?

Doorways can be a problem, but often the tub height is less than the width and so they can go through standard doorways if turned sideways. If its too high to fit when turned on its side, then it would probably also be very hard to get into and out of. Good luck with your search!

Does anyone else have any input on best sloping/most comfortable freestanding tub? Looking for about 65" since I am 5'5

We bought the Victoria and Albert Roxburgh, it is 67 inches. It absolutely amazing both aesthetically and functionally. It is so comfortable and well designed. I was so worried about this purchase (I tried at least 10-15 tubs in showrooms and one similar to it but not the exact one) so I took a bit of a leap. It is one of my favorite things now! To me it is a true luxury to be able to enjoy this tub and a major upgrade from our old drop in jacuzzi tub (I am also 5.5).

We would recommend either a slipper or a double slipper freestanding tub. Both have high arching backs that are comfortable for lounging.
