What did the design documnets show? did you provide the the spacing you wanted, the contractor should redo if they didnt follow the design.

The company's designer left before our demo, so our project sort of fell through the cracks. While the designer had already produced drawings and dimensions for our kitchen and primary bath (those spaces have generally turned out well), the powder room was constantly treated as an after thought. They went primarily by photographs we had shared with them. I am kicking myself now, that I didn't figure this issue out earlier.

Can you go with a sink and cabinet (not pedestal) that will allow you to center it and have the plumbing inside and not showing?

Is it possible to find a smaller pedestal sink that fits inset into the molding, against the wall? It's hard to tell the width from the picture.

It sounds like this was a design build firm. they should definitely work with you on solutions as based n what you wrote they dropped the ball.

Sue, that might be a possibility, though ideally, we find a solution with respect to the wainscoting, without completely redoing it, and keeping the sink in the picture.

I'm pretty sure that wainscoting was placed centered on the wall. You didn't want to fix the watching because then that would be out of balance. You might not have space to center the sink in the wainscoting and still meet code but you'd have to measure. We have wainscoting in our powder bath. Our sink isn't centered in the panel and I've never noticed until now. Granted it's not as noticeable as yours. I would try to get the plumbing and light shifted a little so the sink isn't up against the panel but I wouldn't try adjusting the panel spacing.
